City related as trials at conference and league 2 planned...
According to The Times, ex-sport minister and Conservative MP Tracey Crouch has completed an independent review of the matter.

She is set to push for a pilot on serving alcohol at clubs in the National League and League Two with a view to extending it to a higher level

Trial already started for some in lower kop/bantams bar area it would seem for some fans.

I would definitely take a beer in before start rather than stand in the concourse if allowed

Not for me thanks, all the arses throwing it in the air when (if) we score. I think we can all do without that.

At least we won't have to worry about getting wet then.

    A trial you say.

It's never stopped some in the first place :grinning:

Everyone to their own, however I see nothing alluring about drinking cold poor beer out of a plastic glass, on a cold day, it'd go straight through me.
A hot cuppa, and maybe a wee nip of whisky, far more appealing

I've seen people openly drinking pints from their seats at all the home games I've been to.

In 30+ years I've never seen anyone openly drinking a pint in the stands and I've had season tickets in all 3 of the main ones at some point.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen though, I'm sure plenty try it on to see if they can get away with it.

I worded it incorrectly, I was referring to this season's home games. I'm very surprised you haven't seen as such in all honesty.

In fairness, due to shifts I've only made the one home game but I didn't see it that day. I sit in the Midland road stand over by the away fans and the entrance to the stand are quite narrow so perhaps it's more difficult to get away with it over that side?

It’s happened in the lower kop this season he is right, I’d never seen it before this season either. A steward showed one bloke to his seat with the pint in his hand!

Good idea they do it abroad and I bet it would help sales, I don’t usually drink at football but it’s because I’m a slow drinker and don’t like to get there early. A pint for the first half and the second would be handy for me. I’ve seen a lot on social media talking about throwing drinks but I’ve only seen that from chavs at fan parks I think it’d be different in a stadium, more like abroad.

Agree with both the latter points.

I've not seen it occur before this season either, which is why I was slightly baffled / wondering if I'd missed some new regulations being announced, and I too saw stewards (albeit very dumb looking ones) showing people to their seats holding pints.

But how do you clap happily with a pint in one hand?

I’m in bantams bar & have noticed it this season & it’s down to the stewards cause the ones I’ve seen with beer is in plastic glasses so stewards turning a blind eye cause obviously entering from Lower kop !

I went to see St.Pauli in 2019 and you could have beer brought to your seat. It was a great atmosphere around the ground, three hours before the game, because people were choosing to drink there. Good beer and plenty of good food options as well.

I haven't bought a beer in the ground for over twenty years. If it was decent beer, and not gassy lager, then I would definitely have at least one while watching the match.

Me neither, though I have seen plenty of people stopped from taking booze through by stewards.
