Booing off / Ironic cheering of Smallwood

Hughes, Hodges and Gent have had 18 months to implement and recruit to a system that works. A blueprint for the club to use going forward. We have a manager who has been given the best budgets since we arrived in league 2 and has failed to build a cohesive attacking unit. I think Hughes is struggling to switch from a Premier league mentality of playing to survive, to one of going for promotion and actually winning games, rather than not get beat. Smallwood and Gilliead epitomise that Hughes philosophy. It's fairly obvious to me that attacking players will never flourish under this regime.

 

I want him to be successful here I really do, but it feels like his stubbornness to stick with a safety first approach is going to be his, and our, downfall.

Agree with all this but the last sentence. I take it we are just ignoring last seasons top goal scorer and multi award winning striker?

 

I think Cook flourished despite Hughes and not because of him. You could say being dropped around Christmas time helped, but on the whole, if we actually supported Cook he could have added even more goals to his incredible tally.
