    Once again the public vote is ignored and the powers that be override the peoples vote to call the new Polar research ship Boaty McBoatface and name the new ship Sir David Attenborough
    Just like brexit :)

    What was the Boaty McBoatface poll?
    In March 2016, the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) made the brave decision to ask the public to provide a name for its new £200million research vessel.
    It launched a public poll, allowing anyone to put forward or vote on a proposed name.
    Suggestions flooded in, but within days there was an out-and-out favourite - Boaty McBoatface - which went on to amass 124,109 votes after being suggested as a joke.
    The second most popular choice, Poppy-Mai, had 34,371, and Henry Worsley was third with 15,231.
    Fourth choice was the equally comedic RRS It's Bloody Cold Here.
    The name RRS David Attenborough only came fifth in the vote with 10,284

    Technically, shouldn’t it be Shippy McShipface but maybe pedantic. Local yoof would not doubt cross out the p and put a t instead. Power to the people.

    PS - Richard Attenborough is an actor @trevor@trevor You are pedalling fake news here.

    Also, i’m sure there is a smaller vessel or sub on the main ship they’ve called Boaty McBoatface, that’s compromise that.
