Blame Game

There are ways and means to deal with issues , caused by your staff, and football is not much different .
Airing it in public , is definately not the way. A quiet word in private , setting the employee goals to improve , is the thing to do.
They can go 1 of 2 ways , accept what you say and knuckle down or think you are a complete t**t and move on.
Absolutely no need for naming calling to the press.
I still think Canavan went down the second route. FCD being young has to grin and bare it, which was a shame because he had a reasonable game against Crawley and there could be a steady player in there.
