Have we had a worse performing midfield than Akpan and Wright? That's because of organisation is it? Right... they're the only two whose roles haven't really changed!

Mellor looks a very poor replacement for McMahon, and Ball and Doyle are a very strange combination given they're both so lightweight. Ball is a panic signing, and that will be reflected by the fact he isn't an out-and-out striker or the target man we so badly required. We have failed to replace Wyke effectively, and that is damning considering how much money we had at our disposal.

I'll give you O'Donnell, O'Connor, Scannell and Payne - they've got ability. Shame Payne isn't ours, but you won't find many sides relegated out of League One who don't have at least two or three quality players because they do.

But it isn't about INDIVIDUAL quality, it's about a team. If a manager had been brought in and told to assemble a side, he wouldn't have signed XI strangers and hoped they came together by some miracle. Between Rahic and Abbott, however, we've put together the worst Bradford City TEAM since Peter Jackson left.

There is no balance, little experience, too much reliance on untried, untested (lost-looking) players who are getting switched in and out every week, absolutely ZERO partnerships (aside from O'Connor/McGowan), and overall, the whole thing is a disaster.

Sweeping the decks clean was a MASSIVE error, and I'm counting that as just one of many faults for our Summer recruitment.

 

I've never understood this unwavering, blinkered, insane obsession for people demanding to play 4-4-2.
Regardless of opponent, regardless of the players we have have available....

This is utter nonsense.
A team needs to be clever, flexible and play the right way at the right time against the right opposition!
I couldn't care less what formation we play as long as its the correct tactic to beat the opposition.
That is not ALWAYS 4-4-2

It will do. They've not been properly coached all season. Give it 3/4 games and it'll be sorted out.

 

Stop talking shite. We recruited Wright and Akpan in the summer, and started the season with them as our only central midfield options. Wright is shite and Akpan is average but playing shite. We knew Reeves was crooked yet, as usual we didn't give a feck about squad depth and signed a kid on loan from town and an 19yr old trialist.

It was pathetic recruitment for central midfield and we are now paying for it.

 

I didn’t go today (Plastic I know) however Thornton said Josh Wright was arguably our best player and really put in a shift, i don’t get the agenda some on here have with him, after the Collins debacle let’s give the whole squad a clean slate and get behind the whole team FFS

 

We need to look in getting out of contract experience players.

 

In some ways losing at least allows hopkin to see what he needs to work on a win today would’ve papered over the cracks

 

Thats direspectful to Law he was half decent, Wright is just piss poor.

I don't really see how their injuries are such a big deal. Two poor players out, a load of teenagers in.

That's not just my assessment - do yourself a favour and listen to Hopkin's interview after the game. He talked openly and bluntly about 'having to bring on kids'.

Those lads AREN'T first teamers, they're development squad players. How many first team-ready midfielders should we have? More than just Wright and Akpan, considering we knew Reeves was injured...

Bloody fans eh, who would have them?! Look, we have been lousy since the turn of the year and to say the problem is the fans wanting immediate success really is a lousy defence of ER's dreadful leadership of our club

 

The reason top managers use 4-4-2 is because it offers the most flexibility to change when the game is in play, Other formations can often mean that it is hard to change the style or formation without major changes on the pitch regards players, For instance, You can drop a forward in to midfield and become 4-5-1, or push a midfield player forward and become 4-3-3, or push the wide players forward and become 4-2-4 or at the back push a full back forward and go 3-5-2
All these changes can be made using nil or one sub depending on personnel keeping the balance of the team without to much disruption and a system players understand

 

Nearly a week on from that dismal performance at Fleetwood not just by the Head Coach who as lost his job, but also a team who the majority did appear not fit to wear the shirt. Hey ho though how things have changed. Collins gone and good luck to him in the future,a championship striker signed and most surprisingly a new Head Coach who I think will turn thinks around. I don’t really give a dam what system he plays as long as we get results. I have a feeling Hoppy will turn things around seems a good signing very passionate just what we need. Quick turnaround from last week nice to see fans response just need the team to step up.

 

Seems a very weak bench again. So we let Killa walk and the only cover we have is young and untried Isherwood. Thanks, whoever decided that a player like Killa was surplus to requirements....

If it's true that Rahic blames Collins for the Kilgallon mess, that is laughable.

Does he really expect us to believe that he would not have intervened to stop him leaving if he had wanted to?!

But talking about being happy with mid table end of season, I would take 20th right now mate.
The recruitment gets worse each season. Hopkin has to be allowed to get rid of Abbo sooner rather than later and bring his own team in to give us half a chance of staying up
