Sad story. I have to say I liked him and wish him good luck for the future.

I suppose living away from home can be hard for anyone especially youngsters. Drinking or gambling will probably be at the top of the agenda to kill time.

I hope he has turned a corner and can go on to have a successful career because there is a decent footballer in there somewhere.

sad read. I had a lot of time for Billy, thought he was a decent player. I hope we see him making a go of his career somewhere in the near future.

It makes for very sad reading. Loneliness and depression are such hard things to talk about, and I imagine harder in a mans world. Explains a lot really, he was a talented player and loved watching him play, but then his form dropped quite dramatically. I so glad he is receiving help and support and wish him a speedy recovery and all the best for the future.

I hope the man finds some inner peace. Yes, a man. Billy is no longer a child, or boy.
He lived the dream many a boy only hoped for.
I and thousands of others joined the Forces straight from school ...... It's tough, and you just have to 'Man up'. And that is the point !! You have to !! When I became a civilian at age 22, I was an Army veteran, and my friends were aged about 30, as blokes my own age were juvenile and reckless.
Football Clubs need to take better care with their young players, and not shelter them from the harsh realities of life. I know it's a privileged but short career, but let's not forget it's very well paid. If you want the cash, fine - but accept and work hard for what you get, taking onboard all the components that go with it.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Its a shame to hear but does explain why such a talented young player has struggled of late. But the good news is that hes opened himself up to it and hes getting the support he needs.
I hope we see more of the fantastic player that we often saw in claret and amber - he was a joy to watch sometimes and I'd imagine he'll always be popular among City fans.Yorkieman and Morley Bantam like this. -
Hoping he has turned the corner ... not just in football, but in his life in general

Echo the comments on here. In his first season I thought we'd uncovered a real find and his goal against Leeds will live long in the memory. 2nd season he looked woeful at times so yes this explains a lot. Guess it's a reminder for all of us when we see poor performances on the pitch that they are human beings at the end of the day. Wishing Billy a speedy recovery

I feel quite sorry for the guy if he was going to the pub alone to find conversation.
He had some fine moments in his first season at City for sure. I’m sure being back at home in Canvey Island will suit him well.Bronco and Sergio Pinto III like this. -
On a serious note though. I wish Billy all the best. As many of us know, mental health issues can be devastating. I'm pleased to hear he is finally getting the help he needs.Bronco likes this. -
well he's better than that, but its home isn't it.

Good luck to him, I hope he is happy there!
Conference South isn't that bad a level nowadays. The equivalent, Conference North, has teams such as Stockport, York, Darlington, Kidderminster and Guiseley in it.
I hope Concord make a go of it and gain promotion to the National League.Pineapple Salesman likes this. -
it's an excellent signing for Concord, he'll be great in that league.

Must be tough for footballers who have to move across the country, apart from their teammates they’ll know no one in the area. His bird was an absolute 10/10 too so splitting up with her would drive anyone to drink!
He just needs to get plenty of games under his belt. Hope he bosses that league and gets a decent move in a years time.bantamlad92 likes this.
