I'm sure I've read somewhere that he isn't owed anything because he has already taken out way over what he put in. Wish I could remember where I've seen that....

I would have thought that the shares Edin owned or still owns wouldn't be bought by the
club I suspect Mr Rupp would have first offer on them or offered to another party
The biggest problem I see would be how to value them
Don't know if this is correct perhaps someone could enlighten

I'm not criticising the quality of the player but I am criticising the type of player or perhaps the position they play in.

Openly stating we need another striker and a winger and coming back with two kind of midfielders is a little bit odd.

If he'd brought in some terrible winger and striker at least he would have stuck with what he'd said he planned to do!

Absolutely agree with this - for me the team never looked as good when Clarke left as he links up play so well. Payne is great but his decision making can be poor at times (will come with experience), Clarke brings a bit of experience back to the team

You do understand that the manager of Bradford City said we needed “something different”. It’s not my opinion, it was Hopkin’s..! He said he was looking for a winger and a centre forward as different options. You know more than David now?

Fact is, our tactics didn’t work against Southend. They squeezed us and prevented us from playing our passing game. Others will try to replicate those tactics and if they are successful, we will need to try something else...!

So if something is fundamentally flawed as that, what else can we rely upon in the small piece of information?

I saw the oddment too, Rod - But chose not to nitpick. That said .............. City have been flawed (Or is it 'floored' ? :D) since Parky left, after those Play Offs ............... Parky saw it coming - WE didn't. :( ........ ;)

The lack of a big target man isn't crucial if we play our pass and move football.Sometimes, depending on who your playing, having the option to play it high is useful to hold the ball up or head to a runner but for me one aspect we miss out on is set plays.Corners, free kicks to the sides of the box etc, there's no real threat from headers. If we bring up O'Connor or NKP we risk getting hit on the break and conceding.

It's an important option we don't have and I'm disappointed we missed out on bringing someone in.Must sort it in the summer imo.

It us an interesting one, because it looks like we have strengthened our Plan A quite significantly, which is great - but we haven't forged that crucial Plan B, which you're right, Hopkin wanted to do.

I guess that was how the cookie crumbled.

Given our situation, I think we're fortunate to have brought in the talent that we have, but stylistically we appear to be limited as a squad.

Its too early to say how that will affect us.

Maybe, just maybe, the strength of our Plan A will be enough. Southend may have been different with the reinforcements, or it may have been the same

All very true. The recruitment of Clarke and Butterfield is very good, but as you say, no real chance to mix it up. If PlanA isn’t working, all we can do is bring in more PlanA.

The one thing I don’t like is Hopkin’s comment to Parker, where he claims it is the fans that wanted a targetman. Yes, some of us did say we needed one, BUT Hopkin himself said he would like one and a winger too. When he didn’t manage it, he then goes on the defensive and suggests he doesn’t need one and that’s how he’s picked teams before. Forgetting that it was HIS desire to bring in those types of player.

As yesterday proved, lots of good crosses into the box, but nobody good enough in the air to win them. There must have been 6-7 times yesterday when Tim Steer and John Dreyer said crosses were just too high for Doyle or that they had brushed off his head.

Although not a great player, I still don’t get why we turned down a chance for Sammon whilst saying yes to Clarke

Really you'd prefer that. Personally I would prefer if he couldnt grt the right quality in that position he went for better quality elsewhere and adapted tactics. Otherwise I could come in on the left wing

when someone as talented as Billy Clarke comes available, and he's genuinely desperate to sign and play for us you take the opportunity and sign him.

and Billy Clarke is a terrific player. personally, I think him, Payne and Ball behind a central striker is a pretty exciting prospect.

Can I just add I managed a quick word with Billy at half time when the subs had finished their drills and you could tell how pleased he is to be back - need to take this into account when we also have players who's attitude has been bloody lousy

Exactly this. I think as fans, when the going is tough, you'd like to think that there are sufficient voices in the changing room and characters within the squad to make a difference.

There are going to be challenging moments in this 15 game run-in and with Clarke I think we have added another one of those voices and characters which will hopefully help us through.

Not the alternative attacking option I hoped for, he’s very similar to others in the squad, but at least he has a bit or quality and will provide more depth to the squad. He knows the club, will give 100% and can provide/score goals. More than can be said for our options pre January (Kai, Gibson, etc)

I'd prefer goals and ability if we were going to sign a forward.
