I think people have unrealistic expectations in respect of our transfer potential!

    The following are major factors:
    • We are a team struggling at the bottom of the table, with a potential relegation at the end of the season. Which ‘proven’ goal scorer is going to choose City over a variety of other clubs in a far better position.
    • We apparently have a substantial overspend this season. A figure that has been bandied about is £1.5 million. So the club has to live within a budget.
    • I assume that there must be some ‘pay off’ for Rahic! Where has the money for that come from?
    • We have Wright and Riley surplus to requirement, who are rumoured to be on substantial wages. We also have Reeves, who is on the payroll.
    • In respect of the age issue, then Messi is 31 and Ronald is 33. I am not sure that Barcelona and Juventus fans are questioning their respective clubs, given the age of these players.
We have to operate within the constraints of our budget and the saleability of City. Personally I think the squad has the capacity to get the required points needed. Tighten up the defence and we should be okay. We have Mellor to come back, which should be another asset to the team.

I would have thought that the shares Edin owned or still owns wouldn't be bought by the
club I suspect Mr Rupp would have first offer on them or offered to another party
The biggest problem I see would be how to value them
Don't know if this is correct perhaps someone could enlighten

So if something is fundamentally flawed as that, what else can we rely upon in the small piece of information?

It us an interesting one, because it looks like we have strengthened our Plan A quite significantly, which is great - but we haven't forged that crucial Plan B, which you're right, Hopkin wanted to do.

I guess that was how the cookie crumbled.

Given our situation, I think we're fortunate to have brought in the talent that we have, but stylistically we appear to be limited as a squad.

Its too early to say how that will affect us.

Maybe, just maybe, the strength of our Plan A will be enough. Southend may have been different with the reinforcements, or it may have been the same

Not the alternative attacking option I hoped for, he’s very similar to others in the squad, but at least he has a bit or quality and will provide more depth to the squad. He knows the club, will give 100% and can provide/score goals. More than can be said for our options pre January (Kai, Gibson, etc)

I think so. A good level of maturity as well. He knew he was out of his depth at Championship level. His willingness and desire to see the job through is admirable. Plus Doyle did an interview in December sometime, and stated how hard George works off the ball, and that it makes easier for him as he takes defenders away. So yes it would be nice to see him score more, but it will come as he learns. I am pleased for him.

What situation is this? As he brings nothing different to the party than what we already have?

And it looks like we might settle into either a 4-2-3-1 formation or 4-3-2-1 which would mean Clarke, Payne and Ball pitching in with goals from behind Doyle

Pre and post Edin are two completely different situations.

What, if you split the form we showed up to the point Edin left and the form we've shown since Edin left, we're second bottom? We would be midtable. We were top of the form table around Christmas once King Edin had fecked off.

Take out the rosey December month and we have been bad though. When you talk about form post Christmas it's not been great and recent form regardless of post or pre Rahic isn't all that. Saturday wasn't great in so many ways but mainly due to the downward trajectory. Anyway onwards and upwards
