Are there any good places in Bradford with a big screen where we can watch Saturdays game with a good atmosphere?

Due to it being shown on Sky at 3pm, I am guessing any pub you choose

Queens next to Bradford Interchange - big screens everywhere, a bit of a grot spot but always decent atmosphere and cheap beer

Crown Sports Bar at the bottom of Ivegate.
Been in there a number of times.
Got City memorabilia everywhere, massive screen and was packed before the home leg.
Loads of lads I know are off there Saturday.

Just avoid any Sam Smiths pub, because as well as no TV's, they also don't allow mobile phones, so you wouldn't even be able to check the score

Oh and most of them stink of piss and other foul odours :mask::joy:

what? do they confiscate your phone on entry.
How does that work, if a family member has had an accident or something and needs to get hold of you urgent.
Surely they can not enforce that.
I am not a drinker, but would not drink their beer anyhow , if it still like it was when i was a youth.

I was in one a while ago and we were all asked to leave after one lad took a phone call.

It is an absolutely bizarre policy Andy

I have one less than half a mile from my house and rarely go in. I have been to 3 Sam Smiths pubs in the past year and they all have a mobile & ipad ban, as well as no TV's, no music, and - believe this or not - a no swearing policy

We were playing pool in my local one, one of the guys in our group got an important call regarding work, and the barmaid came marching over and told him he must come off the call or go outside!! And yes, i've also seen the bar staff tell people if they swear again, they will be asked to leave

Funny thing is, I have never seen a Smiths pub busy. Allegedly all the bans come from the man at the top, Humphrey Smith, who is by all accounts a very odd chap and very eccentric. An example of this below:

I think they have a look-out for any emergency smoke signals. Give them another 200 years and mobiles will probably be allowed.

Bloody hell , worked there 6 years in 68-74, whilst doing my engineering apprenticeship. It was rammed nightly and a good pub in those days. I’m surprised it’s still there! A right s/hole last time I went in before getting a train to Kings X after a City game about 10 years ago.

They were allowed up until recently

It is common knowledge amongst the people who work in the pubs, that the owner often goes undercover in random pubs within the chain, and makes changes based on his observations

Obviously there are some old school people who enjoy the simplicity of it all - "how it used to be in the good old days" I suppose - so I won't knock them. Each to their own, but not really my cup of tea. Or should I say pint of Taddy's

PS Apologies for hijacking your thread @Silverbantam@Silverbantam :joy:

It's not that bad, plenty of worse places to go.

When I started going out in the mid-90's, most times we would meet at the Queens if we were doing town. I know what you mean, it is pretty rough these days, but i've never had a jot of bother in almost 30 years of sporadic drinking in there. Maybe i'm just lucky lol

It reminded me of a sticky carpet Wetherspoons type place Chris. It used to be a cracking pub back in the day.

Being below the Interchange as it was, it was always a meeting up pub. And then they all came back 10 mins before last orders and last buses.

The “ lock ins” were something else. It was Bradford’s Police drinking den ! Plenty of detectives used to prop up the bar!

No swearing, the first words they hear from customers on entering the premises and seeing the policy must be
    What the F##K.
