It was clear to me that on Sat one of our principle failings as a team is that we do not have a ball carrier bringing the ball from the half way line towards the box.
This function can be by allowing your full backs or a winger to do the leg work.
In our excellent performances in December a key element in the way we played was the on the right Caddis manfully
got up and down and used Ball as an outlet . On the left side we had Chicksen, Lewis OB and Payne creating triangles which usually ended with a cross from the wing by Payne. We scored a number of goals from this.
Against Southend we only had the admirable Caddis trying to do the job but Ball was nowhere to be seen and so it
was Caddis who crossed a couple in the first half but that line of supply dried up as Caddis' legs went in the second half.
On the left we failed all day to get it down at left back and so thing happened offensively.
In the McCall regime our ball carrier was Gilliead who is a much better player than he was ever given credit for.
He may not have played the final pass but he got us up the pitch in our correct shape.
So my request for recruitment requires a ball carrier who can be a variety of styles(winger, fullback, midfielder)
It also requires Chicksen to be the first choice left back given our current squad
