Weather is a risk that all supporters take in the four months you identified. It is unpredictable, but can cause a 'possible' disruption.
Having players in your squad, who are internationals, who the club must have a reasonable idea will be called up, is a 'probable' reason for cancellation. A release of tickets after the date of the squad announcement, is perfectly reasonable, if the game is to go ahead.
It isnt rocket science, rather common sense.
In reality the governing bodies are responsible for allowing the situation to arise. Given the Byzantine rules that they have, it is wholly reasonable that they could include a new rule, to try and reduce situations like this occuring.
Can I suggest that fans consider writing to the Independent Football Ombudsman https://www.theifo.co.uk/ if they have strong feelings about the issue.
Good luck.

Its annoying as its bit-part players for ColU, If it was Devine, Anderson and say Mellor, I honestly wouldn't mind if we didn't postpone, clubs just usually take advantage to have an extra week off.

I expect Plymouth and Swindon to end up in the promotion places. Not convinced of the staying power of any of our rivals.
Wouldn't be surprised if both Scunthorpe and Walsall sneak play off places
I'm usually wrong though!! -

Bring Doyle back and sit him on the bench starve Swindon a girl scorer. Top three looks good.

So once again the average supporter is left with some degree of uncertainty. Do you book leave from work on 21/1/2020 only to find it has been altered. No late night train back and a good four and a half hour journey to the Bradford area! -

I have Two tickets for this game, needless to say they are going back to the City ticket office.
Once again sacked this game off.
Been bitten twice booking early.
I'll see what the weather's like before committing to buying a Carlisle away ticket. -

I am sure some ‘completists’ will want to go and a few who are within an hour travel, but I expect a very low turn out. The weather can turn very quickly and although it may well be fine for the match to go ahead, travel can easily be disrupted at that time of the year and 210/220 miles can be a hell of a drive, overnight in January!

Made my mind up not to bother with this game when it was postponed for international duties. I will be retuning my tickets for a refund. Let Colchester miss out on bumper pay day from a strong city support. They will be the hard core who go to all games but they will miss out on a good following.
not all will agree but this game should be boycotted on principle. -
