Absolutely ridiculous rule from the EFL/FA/Whoever and as usual it is the fans who will suffer (hotels, travel, other plans etc pre-booked)
So if your team is on it's knee's with over half of the first team out injured, you still must fulfil the fixture. But a couple of fringe players get called up for nonsense friendlies by 2-bit countries and the game is cancelled, likely to be rescheduled for a Tuesday night. Great commonsense is that(!)
Bonkers

What a set of absolute tossers Colchester have 3 players 1 for Malta 1 for Monserrat and one for Ghana (sorry if the spelling is not right) I rang the EFL regarding why give permission to cancel a game in this div with no compassion for the Dedicated supporters, there is no protection whatsoever for supporters who make prior arrangements like myself that will have 2 pre paid hotel rooms empty in Colchester and for the supporters that have paid for pre paid train tickets, the one sure thing is, it has given me a lesson in not pre paying hotel rooms with no amendable booking. I also rang Colchester FC to voice my disappointment which of course fell on deaf ears and trying to get my pre paid parking of £6 back is a joke they want me to go midweek and they will save my place in the car park I won’t publish what my reply was. The only one that I got some common sense from was at the Ticket office BCFC Shaun who said he would sort a refund on my tickets he also agreed that less than two weeks before the fixture should not be allowed to be cancelled and is unacceptable from a supporters point of view.

Definitely first 11 in FA cup it’s far to long a break if not.

- note all the fixtures that clash with international weeks;
- note league matches that clash with rounds of the cups;
- note the deadlines for the selection of televised match picks (not much of an issue in League Two);
- have regard to the main months that the weather could affect matches (I tend to work on January to March, but will have regard to longer trips outside these months); and
- note other matches that may get moved (e.g. Easter Saturday / Good Friday or that clash with major cultural events like the Shrewsbury Flower Show).
Then I will take into account the savings to be made by booking early for a match as opposed to 'paying on the day'. If the match has a higher risk of being moved then I would need a large saving to tempt me to book early.
For rail travel, you can categorise tickets into three broad options:
- advance tickets (purchase up to 12 weeks, sometimes more, ahead - fixed trains and 'non-refundable');
- split tickets (can be a combination of walk up and/or advance tickets); and
- walk up flexible tickets (refundable tickets that can be purchased right up to departure).
After all that I still occasionally get the occasional match that is postponed, where I have purchased non-refundable tickets; sometimes the saving on advance tickets is just so good that it is worth taking the risk. The way I look at it, you lose the odd one, but you win on most. For such matches I always try and have a plan B available, an alternative day out. For anyone travelling down to London, on the original Colchester date, I believe tickets are still available to see the Tutankhamun exhibition; I went there on Monday and it is truly amazing.
With 16 November now being a blank Saturday, let's hope we can beat Shrewsbury on Saturday and ensure we don't have another one later this month.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Stoneski, Bigrod, RonnieBrown and 1 other person like this. -

If anyone has non-refundable advance train tickets, then there are a couple of possibilities:
- you may be able to change them for a different date (some companies charge a £10 fee). For tickets to London, the away matches at Leyton Orient and Crawley Town may be possibilities; or
- keep an eye on your booked outward train. If it gets cancelled, or is delayed, then, under the National Rail Conditions of Travel (condition 30.1 you can claim a full refund:

Coach tickets and match tickets aquired weeks ago. Game off well it's the last time I pay in good time.
Still awaiting Macclesfield date same applies as above.
Gutted and annoyed. -
I must admit that it seems appalling that the game has been called off less than 10 days before it was scheduled.
If Colchester had an idea that this was a possibility, then they should have delayed the release of tickets until they were clear one way or the other about call ups
Some these players are not even regular starters for Colchester, which makes it even worse!

Really the EFL has a responsibility in these matters and perhaps needs to look at the schedule of games, if they clash with international matches. -

I can understand why it's annoyed people but if the situation was reversed I'd expect us to make the same decision. Yes it's unfortunate for the fans who have booked early but I'd expect us to look after our own interests before that of opposition fans. All clubs have the option to use this if they can match the criteria.

Whilst it's understandably unfortunate and irritating for people who have pre-booked hotels, travel, etc..
Anyone pre-booking in November - February surely must know they are running a risk of inclement weather conditions causing disruption, and therefore should book flexibly to cover themselves in the event of a cancellation. I know I would/do.
Whilst it's not a weather issue causing the cancellation, before some smart ars£ points that out, people booking at this time of year should take care with bookings, or you've only yourselves to blame really.RonnieBrown, marshy77 and Dratsab taf like this. -

Still 45 minutes to go but looking at the first halves of our rivals it's looking good,
Plymouth beating Forest Green
Exeter and Cheltenham drawing
Northampton beating Crewe
Carlisle beating Port Vale
Salford holding Swindon.

Cannot believe that players that hardly feature can cause a postponement, absolutely ridiculous.

If you are saying you wouldn't want City to postpone a match if they were weakened and had the option to do so just to be nice to some opposition fans then it sounds a bit naive. Although the distance wasn't as far we did postpone a match a couple of seasons ago against Blackpool on the monday before the match.
We aren't the first set of fans to be affected by this and won't be the last. Only today Sunderland's match away at Bristol Rovers has been postponed despite tickets already going on sale.SJBantam and RonnieBrown like this. -

Clearly if Colchester have players called up, then it is their prerogative to cancel the match.
The situation where a club has taken money from people, when they know it is highly likely to be cancelled, is unacceptable and an abuse of power!
To make arrangements for a 8 hour 30 minute (if there are no traffic problems) car journey or an 9 hour 20 minute train journey is exceptionally difficult, especially if it is likely to occur during the week. Do the football authorities, suggest that adults take time off work and children miss school, just so that they can ‘tick a box’. Personally l think it is appalling. -
