Aye, the very same pitch that two very well worked goals were scored on. On the day we were beaten by the better side, had nothing to do with the pitch. We went long far too often and paid for it.

 

The more I see Rowe play the more I see Dean Windass , he’s a player can demolish Cheltenham on Saturday. Just can’t wait until 3pm Saturday. Our whole squad is playing great football and giving us City fans our football club back as it should be.

 

Can anyone explain to me where this "Hornby has excellent distribution" myth has come from?

It's being used as a positive when comparing keepers but from the little we've seen I'd say there's very little in it. Neither are very good and both tend to put it on to touch too often.

 

The positivism is obviously spreading - the good one liners on here have improved by the week.

It seems to happen when we score. We just sit back instead of trying to win the ball, get on the front foot and score again. Happened every match we've been in the lead.

does that go down as a"signature" win? Beating a top team on their own patch, decent performance (from what I could pick up), definitely looks like one to me.

 

I really enjoyed that match. Cooke was superb.

 

Canavan a great signing. AOC been faultless at right back and Paudie & Wood both seem to have leapt forward in confidence. Solid back line. Hornby very well protected again.

Yes really enjoyed that and the home commentary was good. More objective positive opinion of T&S and their game management Get the feeling the commentators are in trouble with the home fans though!

A Cheltenham fan friend of mine was full of fouls that Town were cheated over, bad ref decisions but had to begrudgingly admit we deserved the win. An interesting point he made was that any League 2 side would love to have the opportunity of actually having Danny Rowe to come on as a sub, and not starting.

 

From a coaching point of view it just shows that 'tweaking' the tactics and formation to best cope with the opposition as well as exploiting them is a real positive - the key is to get the players understanding of them and then buying into it. Stuarts changes often felt like they did not achieve either of these vital aspects.

Said last week how much I am looking forward to match days again - to be honest Keefly it would be great if local fans could get down to the training ground to pass on what this means to the fans (obviously observing Covid restrictions ) and to encourage the coaches and team outside the ground before Tuesdays game (can then still get home to watch it) - the momentum we currently have is where this vital unity is built and it is just such a shame we cant show them that inside VP, it would be rocking alright Very proud of the boys today

It just goes to show, it's not about where you sign the player from or what their reputation is like, it's about do they fit into the team, squad and formation.

Parky taught us this lesson over and over, so when Stuart signed this lad from Scunthorpe rather than assuming he'd be as ineffective as the man he replaced (Danny Devine), it would have been smarter to give him his chance.

 

Yes, Vernam wasn't as much of a threat yesterday, but he worked hard tracking back, which is good to see. I also noticed Stevens doing likewise when he came on, which was a big improvement from the Exeter game where he left FCD isolated.
