I'm not suggesting anything, if you read it again I was asking if the away games would be categorised as accruing more points because fans have traveled the length of the country rather than 28 miles down the M62 to Bury or Oldham.

And what if someone lives in the south west and only goes to 3-4 away games like plymouth, Exeter, Cheltenham and Forest Green. How’s that fair? It should be 1 point for each away game. Doesn’t need to be anymore complicated than that

This part is a big commitment "Please note that an away season ticket commits you to buying a ticket for all 23 away league matches." I'm sure we have fans who would commit themselves to all 23 away games but couldn't IMO see more than a few hundred taking that option.

They may copy the Shipley Bantams travel club loyalty points scheme where points are awarded on a mileage basis so an away trip to Exeter would get you more points than a trip to Bury

That would be just the same as fans living local and not attending the above games, 1 point per game sounds about right but as we didn't have a any such scheme running I was interested to know fans thoughts on how the club might run it.

I am wondering how many seasons it will take though before away travel is a closed shop where new fans or younger fans who have grown up can’t get an away ticket because too many fans have accumulated hundreds of points over several seasons.

I don’t get how that will work.
Let’s say someone goes to all 23 away games this coming season and have 23 points. They also attend all 23 games the season after, Will they have 46 points and then 69 points after season 3 etc etc.
Or will points start from zero again at the start of each season?

Exactly the reason we shouldn’t be in this league.

Doesn't really matter, Bury and Oldham we will probably get enough tickets for those wanting to go any way. Exeter Plymouth away ditto.

Could the solution to the away priority issue be contained in some of the other debates currently ongoing in other threads. Away priority tickets given away free to all those giving x number of hours voluntary work to the club cleaning seats or whatever else needs doing.

Yes your points would be accrued from the previous seasons away games attended, other clubs may have different methods of awarding loyalty points to traveling fans.

I doubt if any away matches last season sold out before the tickets went on general sale - even Fleetwood and Accrington games fairly early on in the season had tickets on general sale.
Whilst in the lower reaches of the EFL structure the only reason to buy a priority away ticket is on the (usually mistaken) belief that towards the end of the season we will be at or near the top and that at least I can buy a ticket for the play off semi final away leg. (Sadly disabused at Fleetwood 2017)
I'm quite happy to "donate" an extra £20 to the club even though I realise my priority ticket is somewhat superfluous
As for sell outs at Plymouth, Exeter, Chorley etc - don't make me laugh

Yes no doubt but going to the likes of Oldham or Bury on a Saturday will only get you the same amount of points as going to Exeter or Plymouth on a freezing Tuesday night in December which IMO is a darn sight more commited.

I think its a great idea I could help out by getting the training stuff out before the lads train ;), then maybe on none training days pop down and wipe a few seats down, a great idea mate, think the wife would be more than happy to get rid of me :).

The points system basically defines loyalty by how thick your wallet is. The volunteering idea is more egalitarian. It doesn't have to be exclusively one or the other. The club seem to be crying out for people to go down, help out and keep costs down. Why not offer an incentive like this?

How about we use the points to restrict access to the priority? There is no way we need a points system yet. We can barely sell out one away game a season.

I still don’t get how you get points if you pay on gate?

When we get to a point where all tickets go for a good percentage of away games and it is restricted to one per member, we need a points system. Until then, we don’t
