I'd rather give my time to a local junior club, there are clubs at grass roots level crying out for help.

No it doesn't, it rewards people based on their loyalty to supporting their club home and away. If i spent considerable time and money following my club all over the country i'd expect a bit more loyalty back than someone who cleans a few seats in their spare time.

This is spot on, we're talking about a business with a turnover in seven figures, not your local amateur set up where a few parents give their valuable time and in a lot of cases money to give kids the pleasure of playing football.

Are we even at a point where we need to worry about a points system for tickets?

Probably in the future but not now. And how does it work when a lot go pay on the gate in these leagues? How do fans get the points then ?

Away day priority should be enough. Restricted to one per priority member for first part of sales and then open it out to the rest.

None of this bollocks about supporters clubs getting first dibs. Get your members to buy a priority if they want tickets.

Hopefully they will implement this talked about system in the coming seasons. Potentially you could purchase a priority away ticket and yet only go to one or two away games. Priority should be based on games attended, not because you have a golden ticket in your pocket.

Loyalty systems work perfectly well at far bigger clubs than us who actually sell out games more than 30 mile away, or big cup games. It’ll work fine.

As for volunteering for points, ridiculous idea. It’s a private company, Rupp pays the likes of Paula Watson well to make sure everything like cleanliness is up to standard. Simply put if the job isn’t done right, sack those responsible and get people in who’ll do the job up to standard, as with any other private company.

How about we use the points to restrict access to the priority? There is no way we need a points system yet. We can barely sell out one away game a season.

I still don’t get how you get points if you pay on gate?

When we get to a point where all tickets go for a good percentage of away games and it is restricted to one per member, we need a points system. Until then, we don’t

Well if we barely sell out one away game a season why do we need away priority tickets?

I suppose if you care about getting loyalty points you’d make sure you bought a ticket online or from the office.
If it’s a spur of the moment decision to attend an away game and the away club didn’t supply a ticket then you’d have to accept that points wouldn’t be gained on that occasion.

Loyalty points are bought. This is exaggerated at bigger clubs where you need much deeper pockets and is only an option for the few. Volunteering may be a way to earn loyalty and is open to all.

I'd expect loyal fans that don't want to miss games would make a point of ensuring all loyalty points to be potentially accrued are done so. This is the thing about 'loyalty', these sort of fans go the extra mile to support their club and should be rewarded for this when potential 'big' games come along. And i don't count myself as one of those, i go to a number of away games but not enough to class myself as a priority.

How many times will the priority only sell out all tickets? I’d say none.

It’s an easy money earner for club where people who buy one hope for a Chelsea away

And as @How@How has said what about the fans who pay on the day, if they produce the stub to the club there attendance on the day would be added to the system.

Fans don't pay for loyalty points, they pay to watch their team play. The loyalty points are a by product of their commitment, they haven't gone all the way to Plymouth or Yeovil just to rack up some loyalty points.

Priority should go to loyal fans, not some one who has paid for the privilege.

So that’s my point. You’ll have to humour me but hypothetically we could end up in 5 years time where it’s impossible for new fans to get an away ticket.
    Here goes with my explanation.
Starting this season the club starts to record away visits (cup games excluded)
300 fans have 23 points at end of season 1 and continue to attend every game for 5 seasons = 115 points.
We gain promotion and this increases the away following. So after season 2 we could have 500-700 fans with at least 23 points.
I’d estimate that we have at least 3000-5000 fans that will attend at least 10 away games each season so they will have 50 points after 5 seasons.
    Still keeping up?.............
Imagine if we are in the championship in 5 years (stop laughing). How would any new fan with zero or very few points ever get chance of an away ticket assuming that at this point we’d sell out every away game.?

No it should re set every season.

That way its a level playing field for everyone.

Anyway when we are back in the championship :innocent: our away allocations will normally be sufficient to handle the number who travel and this system will more than likley not be needed.

We probably only have 100 or so fans who go to every game home and away, some can’t afford to but that’s life same at any club in the country. Footballs a want not a need, and it’s not a charity. Those that go to most games deserve to be front of the queue, not because someone comes and helps scrub the bogs on their day off or because they don’t work at all.

Bradford City should pay for staff to do those jobs, just like those who travel all over pay the most to see their team and deserve to be front of the queue.
