Yesterday.................Oviedo 2 - 1 Sporting unfortunately, but what passion for a Segunda fixture. Passion sadly missing from the English game.

I've been reading about the big 6 plotting to leave the PL and I'd say, "See ya". Maybe then, without countries and billionaires using clubs as vehicles for their own agendas, we can get back to football.

I'd love some big club like Villa or Leeds to engineer a reverse breakaway in response.

It's like this all over Europe, i took in a Polish Ekstraklasa game while in Krakow a couple of weeks ago. Only a smallish crowd of around 7,000 but the atmosphere beat anything over here. And both teams were bottom of the division. Really enjoyed the occasion, had what was badly lacking over here. Crowds in this country tend to bore me senseless, fans mentality doesn't help turning up five minutes before the game, i've been to a few games abroad and the build up to the game starts a couple of hours before kick off. Fans don't sit on their hands like they are at the theatre either, nor is it sanitised hand clapping like at Arsenal and Man City.

Atmosphere and passion come a distant second over quality of football for me. The quality of football in the Premier League outshines that of any league in the world in my opinion.

It makes you wonder why PL clubs have only one 1 CL final in the past 10 years, but La Liga clubs have won 7?

Each to their own, but I go abroad to enjoy the atmosphere, the l.o.n.g build up to the game around the stadium, the boozing and the noise, stuff you don't get in England.

No it doesn't, it's simple. Real Madrid and Barcelona are better teams than Premier League teams (or at least they were). Just because a team is better doesn't mean the quality of football they play is better. I absolutely love watching Liverpool at the moment, their quick, dynamic style of play is great to watch, same goes with Man City.

Well they were last year, and the year before, the year before, and the year before that, the year before and the year before that and the year before........

Liverpool and Man City are chalk and cheese, nothing like! Anyway, feel free to open a thread about PL v whatever football, I'll contribute. I started this one to show how piss poor English atmosphere has become and how even divisions outside the top flight abroad still have have that primal atmosphere.

Did getafe Vs espanyol and Real Madrid vs Valencia last week and loved every minute of it. Most I’ve enjoyed the football this season . Also went to the Wanda Atléticos ground , the Vicente cauldron and Rayo vallacano too . What a place madrid is . If you ever have a free weekend and flights are cheap go take in a game .
Next up 4 games over a weekend in Holland in February

In Spain for the derby, for those that missed it, and that'll be everybody but me.....it was a calm one.

13 yellow cards and 1 red.

    Sporting Gijon 1 - Oviedo 0

Oviedo were robbed by the ref disallowing a perfectly good goal, something l seem to see a lot of in Spain.. and far more entertaining for me then VAR.

The ovation Oviedo got from their fans for losing the derby would never ever happen here.

I've argued almost every season that the Spanish League has the best standard of football in the world, yet these past few seasons I've got to say the Premier League is.

The 'European Elites' could never form an 'Elite League'. Their ego couldn't take it, some of them would have to be the whipping boys, get beat every week and finish near the bottom/bottom. These teams' fans complain if they 'only' finish fourth, it could never work.
