Hi, I've just finished reading "The football man" by Arthur Hopcraft - football journalist from the 60s - describing the game as he saw it then (was published in the 60s, but been reissued a few years ago, after he passed away) - really good read, very insightful and quite thought provoking.

Few mentions of Bradford City, including a good piece on Tony Kay, one of the players that was caught up in the fixing scandal in the early 60s including our record scorer in one season, David 'Bronco' Layne.

He also mentions in a piece about the early influx of foreign players, in particularly Eastern Europeans, who most Bradfordians are aware had a large post-war Ukrainian and Polish community in the City. He talks about the Nowakowski brothers who were brought up in Bradford in the 50s-60s.. 2 went on to play for Wednesday, but at the time of publication, the youngest brother Kazimierz, a talented and dedicated young player was on the books at Bradford boys. The boy had a good write up and an interview in the book, but it got me thinking.... I don't think that I ever remember hearing about these - fair play, I was only born in 1986 but have always had a keen interest in the history of the club and have always listened intently to my elders on the subject of ex-city stars.

So I was wondering if anyone on here has any memories of them? I'd be really interested to hear what they were like as players and how they got on......?

    Regards
    Tommy

Ps I really should probably have posted this in the 'where are they now ' thread so - moderators, feel free to move forward to the correct place

I used to play schoolboy football against them over the years. They were decent players as youngsters . “ Nova” that’s how they were known to us kids from memory.
