    On the basis that Burnley have played over 2,000 top tier matches to BCAFC less than 500 there's not really a discussion, still one more PL season and you could over take Grimsby

    Now i agree with this bit. Just because we've been perenially shite for most of our history doesn't mean we should be shite going forward. But this can only be achieved by the foresight of a man who demands excellent standards and success as part of that. We have no devine right to get out of the bottom division, we have to earn that right. Its where your ownership comes in first and foremost. He has to demand those standards of his players and staff by instilling a professional set up worthy of taking an organisation forward. Otherwise there is no point in going in forward, i personally have no interest whatsoever in watching a team tread water in league 2. I've got better things to do with my time and money, i don't follow a football team for blind loyalty.
    I want an owner to sell me a dream, it might not come true but at least dangle the flaming carrot. I ain't expecting championship football anytime soon, but a season or two at push of league 2 football and thats me done. It genuinely doesn't warrant me wasting my time. I'm in this for the big occassions and league 2 doesn't have any bar a miracle cup run.

    I want the manager and owners to come out and publicly state that league 2 football is not good enough and our target for this coming season is top 3.
    All we seem to hear is that the salary cap will affect us. Well not having it never helped us

    Exactly. But instead we are supposed to accept that tin pot clubs like Burnley and Swansea are bigger than us. Without doubt the Bantams could be a bigger club, but due to history we aren’t allowed to question it.

    thank fuk Old Etonians and Royal Engineers aren’t still around as they’d be massive.

    Whats bigger? How do we become a bigger club than Burnley? This what we are up against.

    Add that to history which shows apart from a spell in the 80s they have pretty much always been a top division club.
    You might not like it but history dictates to a large extent how successful your club will be, call it your natural level. Its why Wolves re back in the premiership, Leeds now as well, why clubs like Everton never go down.
    For some reason fans liken us to Burnley, apart form us both being deprived northern areas in sproting terms we couldn't be further apart if we tried.

    Its how you are run. Look at Tottenham, everyone sees them as a big club, shiny new stadium and all that. But what have they actually won in the past few decades? Not a lot. Had the luckiest run in champions league history which masked over an organsation run on profit before everything else. Arsenal suffer with exactly the same problem, great draw for us bottom feeders in the cup but not really a big side anymore. Its a mentality thing. Harry Kane will go through his career winning nothing if he stays at Spurs.

    But whatever history shows both these tinpot clubs ply their trade at a higher level as it stands.

    And with our (lack of) strategy, I don't see how that changes.

    As much as I agree with you, I have my doubts about whether that would ever happen with the current owner and chief exec. Maybe something on those lines should be a question for the forthcoming fans forum?

    Q: Stuart/Ryan/Joolz What would be the minimum acceptable position for the club at the end of the coming season?

    A: Well it's a new squad and it will take time to gel and we have to remember that Covid 19 is still with us. But we'll all be doing our best to finish as high as possible

    Follow-up Q: You've pointedly missed the point Stuart/Ryan/Joolz. If we finish outside of the top 3 in the bottom division of the EFL, would that be acceptable?

    A: Erm, well, erm, maybe, erm .. we'll have to wait and see.


    Imo, it would still be worth asking the question at the fans forum and before the STs go back on sale.
