Are we any better than last season.

I would say on the whole we are yes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, another push in Jan should make us more competitive. The less said about our last signing the better.

 

For me at the beginning of the season, the starting 11 plus 1 or 2 subs looked strong.
Unfortunately I couldn't see a plan B for when we got injuries or looked poor.
The injuries we have had early doors have severely damaged the good run in pre season going into the first 6 league and cup games.
We look very light up front.

* No change there then...

 

Clubs don't want players that get injured easily so get rid.
Then we try them for a year hoping they can miraculously turn their glass bodies into steel.

We have a big improvement in the manager position and seem to be well run off the pitch albeit with a reduced budget. This is what we hope will get the best of what is a squad that isn't a vast improvement over last season. Everyone looks at Morecambes squad and how well Adams did with it but they had the likes of Lavelle whos gone to Charlton, Mendes Gomes who has gone to Luton and have Stockton who will be targeted in January if he keeps scoring goals. I'm not sure our squad has three players of that quality.

Some of the things you can't judge with a player-by-player examination are team spirit mentality and tactics so you can ask if all the players are better than last year but at the end of the day we're back with a manager who has a track record of getting the best out of mediocre players and the only way to do that is with togetherness

So far the start has been better 3 wins 1 draw 1 loss compared to 2 wins 2 draws 1 loss in the first five league games but not long after last year's team went on a horrible losing run actually losing 10 games out of 13 in all competitions absolutely falling apart

I don't think we'll see anything like that horror run so yes I think the team has been improved on all points although we're not going to win every game I'm not expecting a ten game winning streak and we'll have injuries to contend with that mean we also get some disappointing results

We've needed a right back for about 24 months now. Signing one of those would immediately improve us but we seem intent on just sticking a utility player there and hoping for the best.

 

I think Finn also has shown he's not quite there but worthy of a little bit of game time I suppose

At least the left back looks better than I expected but yes right back is very weak so are the back up centre backs

 

We’re better yeah, decent first eleven and we’ve put some great performances in already. Happy with the new signings and who has left. Early days.

Better than at the end of the last summer window or January? Last summer 100%, January unsure but definitely a better manager.

 

Yeah, DA has been or best signing so far and I'm confident if he's given the tools he can do a great job. The frustration is that I'm not sure that's happening and we're wasting a great chance.

Don't forget, there's some serious money more than likely coming up next year which will only make the division harder. If we dont get promotion this season we may live to regret not speculating slightly.
