    Can you blame him ????
Wouldnt we all do the same if offered the same chance in the places we work ???,

I just got a feeling that GA had a big say in it knowing that Walker was avalible and was a far more solid keeper than Lewis

I don't. He wasn't forced to go to Carlisle and surely must have known what was coming, i.e. playing behind a porous defence.

He clearly believed the PR, i.e. "we're bringing in six quality players" or whatever other nonsense they sold him.

No. Not a club, who in reality are no better than the one you're at.

Sensibly people don't move jobs just for the money. Or rather those that do, are the ones that have 12 jobs in 10 years and I ignore when I see their CV's!!

The answer is a big fat 'yes'.

Whilst I thought that Lewis got some unfair abuse this season - I did think people went OTT about him, you'd think he was the second coming or something. It was just a pleasant surprise to have a reliable keeper - which we hadn't had since Doyle was the regular.

But the cold facts are that he was 23rd out of 24th for % shots at goal saved this season, with only Sutton's keeper behind him (and we saw how porous their defence is).

The big problem with Lewis was his flamboyance. Last season he increasingly started mucking about with the ball, which, late in the season, resulted in some eye popping near misses and a badly conceded goal or two. That just decreases the confidence of the defenders and it was noticeable that this coincided with Platts worst spell for us.

League 2 defenders, need surety. Early season ours got neither. A confusing defensive set up. And a twitchy keeper behind them.

Walker is simply a good reliable pro. Nothing flash - just does his job as a keeper, as opposed to the current obsession with them needing footie skills. Yes. In the Premiership / International team competing for the big prizes, of course a keeper that is great at distribution is vital - but not in League 2.

No don’t blame him at all for taking the money, but regardless it’s not a great career move.

Having said that, I was once offered a job with more money but didn’t take it as the company wasn’t right for me.

Remind me, did he seek a move or did Carlisle approach us with an offer we found very attractive and then informed Lewis of the offer and told him we had accepted it? Hmm, what to do when your employer is happy for you to leave.

He didn’t have to leave, he didn’t have to accept a higher contract, he didn’t do anything he didn’t want to do. The club cannot be blamed for accepting a decent offer based on him wanting all the above.

I sure that if my bosses made it clear to me that my future lay somewhere else (and accepting an offer suggests that), I’d be off. Given the probable pay rise involved, I don’t blame the lad for going.
Anyway, we win on both counts, some incoming cash and what looks like an upgrade.

calmer much calmer .... our defenders still make some school boy errors but they have to then pass the gate keeper and he is very very solid

I liked Lewis nice guy ...but drink driving convictions tell me he went a bit wobbly at that particular time... You have to be very drunk to get caught once unless you do a traffic violation smash a car so maybe her was doing it a lot.? All the best to him but we have got a great keeper in return.

Football is different to normal jobs and people shouldn’t compare. There are no guarantees he’d have got a new contract for instance, it’s not all about money but anytime a player moves they usually get a longer contract and the security that comes with that. The biggest worry for a footballer would be to be a free agent, I don’t blame any that follow the money, they’re still doing the same profession just on more money and potentially a longer securer contract. Loyalty works both ways and often fans forget that.

Are you sure he was convicted?

this is all I remember - had a drink and mentally he suffered. No word about drink driving convictions https://uk.news.yahoo.com/drinking-lot-mentally-quite-dark-230000831.html

Wish well for Lewis, especially if he has any personal issues. Irrespective of his new employers, I am one whom doesn't wish I'll on anybody.

As for Walker, I was unsure and his initial time here at Valley Parade has started well. I'm also aware that it may not continue, see Lewis above.

Fickle, inpatient, turncoats, inconsiderate. A tale of some football supporters

Sam Walker is a very good League 2 goalkeeper.

Big and commanding and can make a save. In fact he probably doesn't make as many saves because he marshalls the defence in a way he doesn't need to then make one. Sometimes the best Keepers are the ones you don't even notice.

If you look closely at three of their goals and a free kick in the 9 mins highlight video on You Tube, was actually trying a camera man dive AFTER the ball had gone past him. Honestly look closely . I didn’t see it in the short vid initially.

I really hope I’m wrong but this has a feeling that we’ve already seen the best of Harry. I’m amazed someone paid a fee for him in his current form. If we had had a backup keeper, Harry would have been benched. His real weakness maybe his mental strength. Unless he get’s a spot as a backup keeper, I think his current contract may be his last professional contract. Hope not.
