Apperley Bridge Training Facilities -now “Fantastic”

Obviously got different standards. Maybe they are better than up in Scotland?

 

They are good facilities @Storck, the outside pitches are like bowling greens, as yet I've not seen them training on the one near the car park, the two under the railway bridge were flooded the other year along with the then 3G pitch that I'm told by the groundsman it's been upgraded to 4G, there's is a gym, swimming pool, physio room, kitchen, maybe in the near future ice baths ETC, I think Grayson making out we didn't own them was a bit of a red herring, I can assure you it didn't go down well with Woodhouse Grove school or the head master James Lockwood who happens to be a big Bradford City fan and a current Ambassador.

 

Grayson had come out of Sunderland who have the impressive Academy of Light, anything was going to be a step down from that. He also generally talked absolute shite.

Hopkin came from Livingston and Morton, who with the greatest respect probably had training facilities in a par with my old junior football club back in the late 80’s/ early 90’s which consisted of running round Thornton cemetery and generally having a piss about on the pitch at Royd Mount school (which I understand now has a different name)

 

He never said they were poor and I don't believe anyone else has said that either, Grayson's complaint was that we didn't own them.

 

Seems strange, in what way should that effect his job? I can accept he didn't want the job, but just say that it seems like an excuse to me, one that should have no relevance at that.

Why would he want that, genuine question.
Surely we should be encouraging fans/kids/dad's/mum's to go and watch the players in training as long as they don't go on Woodhouse Groves private land.

 

I think it was more for when we work on tactics etc?

To stop other clubs watching us? No idea other than that

 

I genuinely believe that if Yeovil had drawn a league 1 or 2 side instead of Manchester Utd in the next round of the cup McCall wouldn't have been sacked.

 

Not sure about that one Ricc, they had obviously taken a distinct dislike to McCall, so I think it certainly didn’t do him any favours, but I think they would have still shown him the door, they wanted rid even before Wembley.

 

I'm not sure about the they part, as much as just Rahic. But yes I agree, he was looking for any reason to sack him imo.

 

We never heard talk about Cup runs being part of the model going forward unlike Julian & Mark who said it was a requirement or players would have to be sold, yet it was something Edin brought up in the forum.

 

You could be right. Edin did say at the time that he thought that the poor run of form had made it hard to attract players during the Jan transfer window and that it would have been easier if there was the carrot of a match against Man Utd.

That said, given what we now know about the breakdown in the relationship between Edin and Stuart I don't think that anyone really believes that the sole reason for McCall's sacking was the bad run of results as was stated at the time.

 

Yes but I think DH has made his feelings clear on the matter to Rahic now. ER will be staying away from training in future

 

There is very little the club can do with regards stopping people watching the players train even on the pitch's under the railway bridge its accessible around the perimeter of the grounds on a public footpath, if the club believe opposition clubs would want to watch how we set up I find that a little strange especially the way we are performing a the moment.

 

It was just an excuse by SG to cover up other reasons why he didn’t want to join us permanently.
