How well Scott Banks played today?

I think it's because Harry Chapman wasn't sulking

    Glad we agree at last.

Chapman's body language was so significantly better than it was against Grimsby, that it's obvious that Hughes must have a had a gently 'word'.

Amazing what happens when a team spend their time constantly encouraging as opposed to gesturing negatively.

Of course it's not that simple. Bollockings need to be given amongst the players, when needed. But Chapman is too good a player, to be as negative as he often has been.

Nobody was sulking when Chapman brought the ball down like Beni Carbone and proceeded to skin the Sutton defenders both ways - absolutely beautiful skill in the first half!

It was exactly the same, the only difference was the teams performance and the result.

Keep up the nonsense though, it's a good laugh when times are tough and we're all struggling to maintain the optimism.

Banks had his best game in a City shirt today. Was a delight to watch.

Agreed I also noticed it coincided with our lot not getting on his back, possibly the early goal contributed to this.

In all seriousness Dave, and I have knocked them both recently. They both coincidentally had their best games in a City shirt yesterday. Let’s hope it continues!

Yes but his two attempts at top corner curlers were woeful ;)

Imo he was effective because he used his right foot and went outside a couple of times. We've not seen that before and it certainly put doubt in the full backs mind and he just couldn't handle him in that first half.

Once again he tried though and fitness is definitely an issue but it was an excellent 60 or 70 minutes from him and long may it continue.

It was great to watch two skilful wingers taking on defenders and scoring goals. Chapman has the best ball control of any city player and probably the worst composure in front of goal. And Banks has that burst of pace which is hard to handle a bit predictable because he tends to go the same way all the time but not yesterday. And just a word about another player earlier in the season I criticised Cook not for his goal scoring he has always been good at that but for his general play giving clumsy fouls away and not holding the ball up. But I agree with the post match comments that his overall play now matches his goals and it’s great to watch and I think a lot of it is down to the few matches he got left out since then he has been a man transformed

Yes he actually hit the ball with it and scored ,when as you say, they thought he’d bring it on to his left.

And decent coaching from a manager who knows forward play! It’s taken time, but great to see!

If you listen to his interviews the up and down body language could be down to his confidence. When playing well be looks a very confident individual but listening to him talk he sounds like he has self doubt in there. I could never understand that sort of thing but age and experience teach you otherwise.

They were able to take on defenders because we got the ball quickly to them so they had time to look up and play with the ball - I hope that continues! One of our best moves in the first half was when Smallwood and Gilliead played quickly through the middle - they need to do that more and none of this 'ball forwards and a back pass to the central defender' that they have done so much. Take the ball on the turn and pass forwards - give Chapman and Banks space and time with the ball.

He's a very very skilful player, who is easily L1 standard. Hopefully, Hughes - who I think is in the Parky class when it comes to motivation, is starting to get through.

A player dropped who was terrible, can still have the potential to be a very good player : unamused:

It's wonderful that I've got my own personal troll. It would be even better if you understood that football isn't as 'black and white' as you'd have us believe.

Chapman is a potentially very good player, let down by his own mental demons - hence he then makes more bad decisions than good.

Some players have managed to overcome such issues, with the help of their manager and staff etc.

So I remain hopeful as it's entirely possible that he could comfortably play in L1.

    Any way up the Bantams!!!!

So, from watching him play 30 games you've already concluded that he has "mental demons" (and you know this how?), some of Chapman's "demons" somehow make Scott Banks tired and despite Chapman being largely terrible he's potentially good enough for league one assuming we have a manager with a degree in psychology.

    Riiiiight.

Thought that Nevers was a handful when he came on, for me he had more of an impact then Chapman, even though he only got a 23min run out.

Apart from the fact that Chapman won us the free kick that we scored our first goal from.
But, yes, Nevers did look lively.
