Looks like we could be on the end of another fine from the authorities due to the behaviour of a minority of our fans.

plus an increase in policing costs, and therefore maybe reduced away allocations? If it costs away clubs more to police they may refuse to give us extra tickets.

not sure what the answer is except introducing photos on season tickets so that people can be identified quicker?

On the issue of flares both inside VP and at away stadia, the club could start by getting the stewards to be more vigilant and try to identify the culprits with the club then taking the appropriate action to keep them out of the stadium.

Mind you, there are those even on BT who tacitly support them in believing that the illegal use of flares by idiots inside VP just adds to the atmosphere. Unbelievable!

It should be fairly easy to spot these scrotes outside every ground.
They stand out a mile, all in black, padded jacket, under 20 and a stupid haircut.
    Frisk em all.

    Some information!

Possession of a smoke bomb or flare is itself a crime if you even attempt to enter a stadium – and that can include possession en route to the match. The law doesn’t actually distinguish between smoke bombs, flares or fireworks either.

Fans who have been prosecuted in court, then given three year Football Banning Orders, as well as bans handed out by the clubs themselves.

“It isn’t worth it and can harm your current or future employment, university or college applications, travel, insurance premiums and even housing options.”

Did I read that the FA is investigating the one in the pub at Rochdale? Isn’t that outside if their jurisdiction?

no, they can investigate anything to do with fans etc. they do it a lot for pre match violence or post match violence big example would be Leeds fans in Bournemouth years ago

Does anyone know much about banning orders? I feel like if I ran on the pitch and got banned it would be incredibly easy to get someone to buy me a ticket and enter the ground the following week? Am I overly pessimistic in thinking that these banning orders don't work?

depends on restrictions given. Sometimes you have to report to a police station at times of games but usually it is just down to the club keeping an eye out for you

As far as I’m aware you only report to police stations for England games to hand your passport in.

On match days you are banned from a 1 mile radius of the ground from 3 hours before kick off until 2 hours after.

But like @CRASS@CRASS points out how well that can be policed is another question altogether

If you have a banning order you aren't allowed within a few miles of the ground on a matchday and restrictions on use of public transport if your team is away. For some games police will have spotters with photographs looking for people who are banned. Also when England are away or it's a major tournament you have to surrender you passport at the local police station up to 5 days before unless you can appeal to get an exemption. Anyone found guilty of breaking a football banning order could be sent to prison. A couple of weeks ago a fan who had a football banning order was found guilty of breaking it by going to the World Cup in November and has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
I would assume if someone bought a ticket for you when you were subject to a banning order you would be liable to some form of prosecution like assisting an offender.

It all sounds very good but I just don't buy it. There is no way police are going to be standing with cameras watching 18000 fans trying to spot banned people for a League Two game. I guess I'm arguing for tougher sanctions for offences.

Im guessing it is down to the club to monitor it, which should be easier as they are likely to want to go with the people they always have so would be in the same stand etc as always.

Not sure any of the above would apply to the morons who take pyro's into a packed football ground.

Clubs will probably know who the main people to look out for who are trouble makers. If someone is willing to risk a prison sentence for the sake of going to a match then other than facial recognition or going back to Margaret Thatcher's idea of every football fan having ID I'm not sure what else they can do.

They have ID they are season ticket holders maybe if they still had ticket stubs on their persons the powers that be could identify them.
