Not quite. He didn’t join them until 8 January and went on to play 18 times for them. When he joined, they were rock bottom on 21pts from 27 games (ave 0.78pts p/g) and already 3 away from safety having played 2 games more. They finished 2nd bottom, on goal difference, having finished with 48 from 46

This means they managed 27pts from 19 games, with O’Brien at the club (ave 1.42pts p/g). Pro-rata (yes, this is a simplistic way of looking at it), they would have been set to collect 65pts over the season, finishing at least 6th and in the play-offs

I expect the heat and humidity plays a part in that. Not sure that’s an issue over here. Here’s some other generalisations. We work some of the longest hours and have poor productivity. People prefer effort over productivity

It's posts like this that I have to read twice to figure out which bit the sarcasm is located in.

    There is.

But hard work alone doesn't make a player. Look at Brünker for example.

No sarcasm in my post. If you disagree, just say so instead of the silly response...!

My mum always used to say "if you ask a silly question, you get a silly answer".

It's a similar situation with your post.

You can instill workrate and desire, you can't instill ability.

But it wasn’t a silly comment. Butterfield was poor each time he played for us last season. Fact. Anderson, albeit only a very small improvement, was better.

Both Hopkin and Bowyer seemed to agree with that. As I said, if you disagree fine, but it isn’t “silly” to have a difference of opinion...!

That's rubbish, Butterfield is much the better player and had a much bigger involvement in the games he played. Most of the time you didn't even know Anderson was on the pitch.

And that’s down to the style of player, isn’t it? Give me a Greg Abbott who just went about breaking up play and keeping it simple, than a Leigh Palin who could ping Hollywood passes easily and would be more remembered because of it.

The fact is, Butterfield was poor and was dropped by both his City managers. Anderson kept his place and actually got better as the season came to a close.

Butterfield was never dropped, Bowyer played others ahead of him in the last few games so that they could win a new deal for this season. Whenever Bowyer spoke about him he never had a bad word to say and always highlighted what he thought was his championship class. I don't think he got better either, for me he got worse. His first game I thought he did decent by keeping it neat and tidy but that soon went out of his game and he looked lost. Like I said earlier its going to take a massive turn around for Anderson to be anything other than a squad player for us.

Go on then, point me out some examples when Anderson made a last ditch tackle or goal line clearance?

In fact, give me a good example of when he influenced a game.

I've given you 3 examples of Butterfield clearly influencing games, let's see if you can match it.

I don’t need to... let me remind you of my last comment

“The fact remains that Bowyer chose Anderson over him, so clearly thought his contribution to the team was greater”....!

    In other words, you can't.

    Discussion over then.

True Anderson kept his place whilst Butterfield was in and out. So Bowyer obviously thought he was contributing more. Preferred Butterfield when he played further forward

Anderson scored the ‘winning’ goal against Scunny. Well he didn’t actually but more so than Butterfield doing so against Peterborough.

As @Offcomedun@Offcomedun has stated, we aren’t going to agree, so I’ll leave it there.
