Yeah I think so. I saw decent flashes when he was with us. Puts a shift in, and is physical enough for league two. Needs to add more to his game than just cutting inside though. If he can learn to go the opposite way, get to the byline and put some crosses in, he'll be useful (if they have anyone to get on the end of it).

He offered nothing when he was here.

 

Neither did Josh Morris. He did alright at Scunthorpe though.

 

Well I suppose that's one way of defending average footballers- hope they do a Josh Morris.

 

I'm not defending anyone, I'm stating that just because he had a poor 12 months here, he's a young player and it could still go either way.

 

Shrewsbury fans giving the same reviews as most here did, pace can beat a man but absolutely naff all end product and the few posts I've seen they were happy to get shut. 23 so needs to kick on, just like Devine etc here.

 

I’m not sure he’s going to get much better. His inability to understand when to release the ball and how to put a decent ball into the box is pretty fundamental for a winger.

Compared to Reid who had a similar habit of not crossing/passing when he should have, at least he could deliver a couple of decent balls in a game. Gillead rarely delivered a decent cross/pass and his assist and goal stats for us were woeful considering his game time.

 

Spot on BB, his end product was next to nothing while he was here. Seemed like a nice guy but then so was Billy Knott and look where he's ended up. Last chance saloon now for Gilliead, similar to us signing Anderson. If you don't start delivering at this level, the next stop is non league.

 

Couldn't agree more. I'd have been severely underwhelmed had we signed him.

 

It's a shame because he has clear ability with the ball at his feet. The best way I could put it is that he lacks conviction in his play? I would shag Billy Knott just for that goal against Leeds, beautiful man.

 

Definite ability but massively flattered to deceive when he was here. So little end product.

 

I didn't mind Gilliead, was definitely a work in progress but as a 3rd choice winger he was sound. I

Too early to rule him out but likely a L1 or L2 player - that said, ask Shrewsbury fans what they think of Daniel James.
