Good morning all. I come in peace

A few of us are stopping over after the match and was hoping for your tips on best pubs and Curry houses. Oh and where to avoid

    Cheers

Where to avoid? Probably Bradford m8! I live here and haven't been into Bradford in years because it's an absolute cesspit.

Do yourselves a favour and stay in Leeds instead, it's busy everywhere, a brilliant night out and only 15 minutes on the train from the station near the ground.

And don’t put “I come in peace”

    It’s just a football forum.
We don’t automatically lynch opposition fans who come on for a bit of advice.

And everything that monkey says above is 100% right.

Might as well close the thread.

    Sound advise.
I've recently moved out of Bradford for the 1st time in my 50 odd years to North Yorkshire and I wish I'd done it years earlier.

It depends what you want. If you like dingy (dark and scruffy, not the little inflatable boats) real ale bars then Bradford will tick every box.
There are a handful of good little bars on North Parade ten minutes walk from the ground which are more than good enough for your pre and post match pints and shouldn’t be too busy for this match
If you want somewhere nicer than that, then you’re in the wrong place.
Saltaire is decent, a short train ride away and has a couple of decent curry houses.
That said - every body has different tastes including curry houses!
Other than that - echo comments above!

For a good curry, go to Sheesh Mahal.

He's correct for the pre match pint. Get here from Leeds early and head to North parade. You'll find City fans are generally welcoming and you'll be fine, even in colours, for a few pre match beers in all the bars around there.

I despair at some of the people from Bradford at times.
Yes it has its problems, like many a place throughout the land.
You will get a very warm welcome from the vast majority of our fanbase that deem this game good enough to attend, of which i will be one.
As said North parade has lots of real ales bars , in the city centre the city vaults is a good pub for drinks and food pre and post match . Turls Green in centenary square for your Weatherspoon , there is a Nando's next door and a chinese buffet restraunt the opposite side of city hall, next to the interchange If in a car ,park in the Broadway shopping centre , cheap to park , a few fast food outlets if that is your bag and only 15 minute walk to the stadium, both railway stations within a 5 minute walk.
If you fancy curry the city is awash with restaurants , some better than others, The sweet centre is less than 10 minutes from the stadium on Lumb lane.As said Saltaire is also nice for a drink and about a 20 minute drive to the ground, Parking around the stadium is not so good though .
Enjoy your day , but not too much. We need a good cup run ,as we are eternally skint.

I also despair, it means upwards of £30 in a taxi just to get back from a decent night out these days. Last time I went to Bradford it was a Thursday on a bit of a Christmas do with some work lads and around 3/4s of the places were shut. The ones we found open were either dead or scattered with drunks and chavs.

We called it a bad job around 8 ish, jumped on a train to Leeds and I've never been back for a night out since.

Meanwhile Leeds is thriving and one of the best nights out in the UK. I've even been on midweek afternoons and every time, despite being twice the size and twice as many bars, it's still busier in nearly every pub than Bradfords busiest ones on a Saturday night.

Not one for drinking mate , so could not comment on the bars in Leeds and i would expect a city almost twice our size, who's population is not one that is about one third of south asian origin , to be able to sustain such outlets, especially as they are pulling punters from around the area. As Bradford once did with is plethora of night clubs.
Although reading this weeks news , there will be none left in the country the rate they are closing down.
The real shame for me is that Bradford live remains closed, it should have been a catalyst to drive the night time economy in the city. But like other projects in the city, shows the complete waste of space that is Bradford council executive , who could not run a bath between them,

I completely agree and that's why I offered the Aldershot fan the advice on snubbing Bradford for Leeds (other than pre match and the game).

I'm only guessing but I imagine they'll want nightlife if they're staying over and they simply won't have a good experience of that in Bradford. In fact, there's a very real possibility they'd have a very bad experience instead.

I suppose it depends what type of nightlife they are looking for. I had a mate in the army , who spent a fair bit of time in Aldershot, said it could be fairly lively some evenings. Akin to the wild west, his words not mine. He was no angel by the way.

Yeah you're right. I took wild guess though and the liberty of suggesting one where they don't get mugged or stabbed.
