Agents fees

The agents have basically had our pants down.

 

That’ll happen when you lack footballing knowledge at the top. Although a footballing director would cost money I’d expect a good one to be able to shave £50k of that bill for a better return.

 

Can’t we get some of it back, surely must be some miss selling going on there, get the legal bods involved

 

Sadly that’s what happens when you’ve got inexperienced / non-footballing people running the show.

Possibly although he’s also had 4 clubs this season and apparently have his son a job so I’m not sure he was the best appointment, like some of our managers over the years…

 

Well with Stefans comments this week of not looking at themselves to see what’s going wrong this doesn’t surprise in the slightest.

It covers 11 players. I am assuming club means an agent acting on behalf of us, if it is, I can't see why we needed one for Tom Elliott. To an extent I can see about Andy Cook as it was the middle of the summer and he probably had a lot of offers. I've not heard of this Charles Munro that we've given a scholarship to so hope he's got some real potential and not another young player that has good too big for their boots.

I'm not sure we'd save money. Surely Salford are an example of having contacts and still having to spend big on agents fees.

However this season you would assume we'd paid next to nothing to agents as a result of the awful recruitment.

 

I didn’t mean literally save a certain amount, more as you said in your last part that you’d hope a decent director of football would get us better value for money. While I agree with getting a director of football it still has to be a good one, it’s not a case of just bringing in anyone to fill that post. Salford are just another example of not getting value for money.

 

I think what you mean is we wouldn't spend 110k, OK we might still spend 50k and we might also spend 70k on someone's salary but in the round we'd gain other benefits from that individual as well.

 

Lower league agents will be rubbing their hands with glee hearing that wasteful Salford are interested in a player.

They have no real choice but to try and rinse them.

I share your concern people will do that with us, too, as we're undoubtedly naive.

 

Yes exactly, if said individual brought in a young asset for instance then he could pay for the agent fees and his own wage in a player sale. Point is we simply haven’t got bang for our book, if we were top of the league the figure would be irrelevant.
