Hurray! we've got Baldwin back, no need for sparks now

O, not that Baldwin ah well,- this one is from the Notts Co team that was leaking goals last season.
They get Platt and we get Aiden
Lets see how this works out.

 

I don't know anything about him. Purely gut instinct, but I like our business so far. All similar ages, aside from Sarcevic, similar profile, seems we're recruiting for character as much as talent, understated but solid looking players. Time will tell, but it seems far less 'throw sh*t at a wall and hope it sticks' than usual.

Still need 3 or 4 quality additions though. Left wing back, a couple of attacking players of real quality. And a centre mid.

Coming together though. Whether it'll be enough for top 3, only time will tell.

 

Funny their fans say he is error prone. So we’ve effectively traded a no nonsense CB who rarely made mistakes - Platt - for a ball playing CB in Baldwin.

Suggests its a style thing.

We might have some high scoring games next year.

notts county’s defensive record last year was horrific.

they did offer him a new deal though.

Definitely a consistency to the approach. As you say, another with promotion winning experience and that winning mindset

 

Not getting rave reviews from Notts fans. He sounds very mistake prone, but that could be due to the passing style they use and he might not be that kind of player?

One fan said he is either championship standard or looks like a pub player, switches every game. Joy!

 

We have traded an error prone , yes not let’s paint a rosy picture , defender in Platt for another who we have yet to see play and paint an alternative lesser picture? Where is the balance until we see these people play football . To paint an alternate view NC offered this lad a deal and he told them to stick it , so they recruited Platt as second choice to replace him. Works both ways right?

 

Cue the "part of the worst defence ever" posts. Personally know nothing about him at all so can't comment. Would have preferred Aiden Flint but hey ho. I like the age and previous promotion winning experience of all our signings and to get four in the door before the end of may suggest we were really ready for this window.

Hopefully optimistic.

 

He is described as quick with an eye for a pass with mistakes in him. But most seem to like him

 

We've brought in 2 quality players in positions where we are already solid, and 2 squad players in a position where we are lacking in quality. At least one of these so called reserve players will make the starting 11, and be predictably shite at that.

 

We’ve been here before with fans slating former player. Taylor the most recent example. Some people don’t pay attention to fans views, I do they see the player every week and not going to give a sanitised view like the player themselves or manager.

County fan Comments are therefore a worry… yet to see this Rupp investment in quality. Sarcevic is the only regular consistent quality. Every other player is speculative or risky.

 

As proven from other teams fans experiences of players recently, im not blown away by this signing.

 

And in this case a lot like him whilst acknowledging he makes mistakes that could be said of most players at this level. Apparently he has pace which we lack and has an eye for a pass something we have wanted for defenders. He is young enough to cut out the mistakes so there is a risk but hopefully it’s good scouting

 

Judge the business as a whole when its done. Which areas were we solid? Assume you mean defence as one? We've lost Platt and Ogeyoke - who was a starter, whatever people think of him. Tomkinson too. We absolutely needed a couple of centre backs. And we needed more bite in midfield too.
There's a solid rationale behind each of these signings.

 

Why read their forums there are plenty of positives along with the negatives and the fact they wanted to keep him says a lot
