Back to subject. Time will tell what AW is like but to step up for a pen shows he has confidence

 

I'll reserve judgement until I have seen him play. I don't think it's fair to write him off because he came to us via TNS.
Look at Owen Moxon at Carlisle. Everybody saying he is a great player at our level. Where did Carlisle sign him from? Annan Athletic, who were in the Scottish Second Division at the time.
People are always waxing lyrical about Barry Fry unearthing non league gems. Perhaps we might have one here. It might not work out, but unless you try you'll never find out.

Curious, what past mistakes are those? If we’d gone with a 1 year deal policy then we’d have lost Lewis this summer for nothing. The risk is minimal as most players aren’t on a lot and can be loaned out or let go for free if it doesn’t work out. It’s rare that we’re stuck paying someone who isn't playing and is on big wages for a long term contract.

 

I believe so. One or two Sunday League clubs in Wales were probably interested. Another one who's "buzzing" and loves performing in front of "big crowds".

I see Avenue had a big win yesterday. Perhaps we should send a scout down to Horsfall, to tap the undoubted potential that exists in tier seven.

If I'm answering your specific question on Peterborough, I'd be of the view that their fans know the approach by now and are more comfortable with slight unknown quantities coming in with the expectation that some will hit and some miss but those signings don't necessarily impact their first team.

City tried a similar 'low budget' approach of that a few years ago when Rahic bought a load of players that weren't up to much, inflated the squad and then we moved them on.

I don't think a specific comparison of us to Peterborough on this topic is a fair or appropriate one really - they're literally light years ahead of us. In, say the last five years, I can't think of anyone that we've speculated on and they been sold for a much higher fee. Peterborough have a history of it and their fans are probably much more relaxed about it.

 

Well that's a signing out of the blue fans wise. No rumours whatsoever about this one beforehand, despite being on our radar all summer.

How can anybody be “underwhelmed” without actually seeing a player.

 

Some people only respect reputation, when in reality, ability is the key.

 

For a player who had been officially at the club for 48 hours, to step of from the Welsh( sic) League takes some bottle. Great on him! Well done to MH for having the confidence to let him take one. Can you imagine what would have happened if he fluffed it?

 

Someone posted on Saturday's match thread that they'd seen someone who looked a potential new signing. Looks likely its true!
