I said earlier that the away form last season was up there with the best of them. We didn’t need to go all gung ho, when a 4-5-1 set up would have been enough to see these off. Platt and Kelly could have started in the back, not Taylor who seems all over the place. Too many changes to a system that worked so well for us before.

 

We still have massive problems with recruitment. I understand the sentiment of ‘give new players a chance’ but the majority of signings can be reasonably gauged if there’s a real consensus from previous fans. I’m calling it now - Taylor, HokeyKokey, Odour, all sh*te. McDonald will be a sick note, Pattison will do OK, Smith will be between poor and ok.

It’s systemic within our club, we keep signing duffers, and now we’re dishing out long term contracts. We have a number of lets say questionable talents on 2 and 3 year deals now.

Ah sod it. It’s just what we do isn’t it?

Lets just blame the ref.

 

I’d say Oyegoke was hard done by. The first yellow wasn’t even a foul, he won the ball. He looks like a good attacking full back / wing back which is what everyone said after pre season. Sadly we’re playing him at CB which stops him attacking and makes him defend, which had the outcome we all saw.

I’d give him another chance but not at CB. Halliday and Rides showing us that we need more attack minded players at wing back.

 

The 1st was never a yellow and neither was Kellys. 2nd one was a stonewall yellow Im afraid. He panicked and showed his inexperience. Refs like this will ruin football though

 

This ref is very card happy. But we are all over the place defensively. Should be more than 1 behind. Don’t blame Rupp. This is Hughes team. Desperately need a better second half.

 

Walker and Odour the only ones looking to play forward. It’s as if we don’t know we have a proven goal scorer in our side.

Other than Pattison I’ve not been impressed with our recruitment from what ive seen so far. That defence is a relegation side defence, not promotion winning one.

Just had a quick look and there are 4 games in lge 2 that don’t have a single booking at HT and a couple that have 1 booking.

So it’s either those games haven’t had a foul in them or the refs have interpreted the rules completely differently to the clown at our game.

This ref isn’t poor because it’s us.
He’s poor today because he’s a poor/weak ref.
I guarantee he will be poor wherever he is next Saturday.
It doesn’t help us but we better get used to it.

Looks like we are still defending in a 5 with Halliday going narrower and Odour dropping to more a RWB role when we don't have the ball.
