That's like saying we shouldn't have got rid of collins because we could've ended up with an even worse pe teacher. Collins was clueless and needed to go, the same applies to edin.

 

It would all be about new owners.

Voting that they should sell but not knowing what you are voting to take over would be madness and only an idiot would vote for that.

 

That's called BREXIT.

 

An alternative owner. The consortium that's been said to hold an interest.

Or maybe at this point it doesn't matter. Maybe as fans we're obliged to take a stance and say 'driving this club into the ground, tainting it's professional image, diluting the quality of the squad, overseeing a staff attrition rate that screams 'problem', overseeing 4 managers in 9 months and creating the biggest division between club and supporter base that we can remember - from a complete polar opposite, and within less than 2 years - is completely unacceptable and we're not going to stand for it.

Nothing to do win being defeatist. There’s lots of talk on here about the same thing. The fact is, most people were happy for the old owners to go and were excited by the new owners. Now look at people.

Finding a buyer for a football club is hard, finding one that is guaranteed to be better than the previous owner is very very hard. Can you name me any potential buyers the fit the bill?

 

That just highlights my point. You can name one potentially interested party and even that was a joint interest with Gordon Gibb. Who has already been there, done that and left with the stadium.

I’m not here to defend the current owners, I just think people are very quick to demand the chairmen sell up and leave without having any fallback plan. It took a couple of years for ML and JR to sell the club and these guys were seen as the best option for the future of the club. You could argue that ML/JR were mistaken, but at the time most people thought they were a good fit. Pinning all your hopes on Tordoff/Gibb seems risky.

 

Well we vote fairly regularly without knowing what we are voting for. I think Yen just wanted a snap shot of how fans were feeling. It is all pie in the sky anyway we don’t get to vote on who takes our club on. If we had been given the vote last time, I would probably have voted to keep Rhodes and Lawn; unless I had a more detailed plan of a way forward. We literally swapped owners, there was lots of pie in the sky promises oh sorry aspirations, big on those, but no detail on investment from the owners. There was a good reason for that, there wasn’t going to be any, all investment had to come from income generated. Madness/idiotic you say? Correct, we invest in our club, that is hard cash not a flimsy vote, we expect to be entertained, and in return or as a given we support the team and club, all on promises made by prospective owners or actual owners.

Football fans are famous for being idiotic or mad about football. So far 74 idiots have voted, I thought that broke site rules by the way. We are not supposed to insult other posters!

 

I think the site rules ban insulting specific people eg You are an idiot, rather than a collective group. But if you think it has broken the rules rather than moaning do something about it. There should be an option to report the post.

 

Like the other poll I haven't voted because I'm not in agreement with either option.

I'm not exactly happy with goings on and all the recent media coverage but the Hopkin appointment gives me hope. I don't see why Hopkin would have taken the role without the assurances he needs. He won't have been short of interest so why us?

If we can finally get the right person in charge of the team then surely that allows Edin to focus on efforts behind the scenes. Maybe the first indicator of Edin stepping back will be allowing Hopkin to put together his own support staff...

MODS...………………… please close this thread NOW. Reason being we have had 100 responses and now have a 90/10 exact split. I've watched "Pointless" enough times to know that giving 100 people 100 seconds to respond is the perfect length of time required to get the perfect answer.

As Larry and Paul would say on Radio Leeds "Great Big Saturdebate" this now needs righting into UK Law and never being challenged again.

 

I asked for potential buyers and you named one. I followed up by making the point that you can only name one and that highlights how difficult it is to find buyers for a football club.

That difficulty is increased when you want to only consider “good” buyers. That’s the whole point of my argument throughout the thread. There’s lots of chat about wanting rid of the owners but it’s just not that realistic.
