A Peterborough fan's view

Would have been interesting to hear his view on the 'Evans Out' thread on their forum. Lots of anti comments e.g. "Sick of the touch line antics of Evans and Rayner"

 

I wonder if Peterborough are just slightly too big of a club for Evans.

Fatty's shenanigans are classless, if effective, but the only reasonable club he's found success at is Rotherham.

Then again, without significant investment, can he even succeed? I just think the pressure at Peterborough right now is sky high. Ihe isn't finding much patience.

 

I recall their touchline antics at VP many times. They just plead for anything and are aggressive for the sake of it. Rayner is a complete nutter.

Sums it up Rayner trying to wind up Hopkin. I suppose the tactic being opposing manager concentrate less on the game? Distasteful to be fair

 

Rayne and Evans are asking "who has stolen Steve's belt and braces?"

 

"Cmon boys, you've got nothing to worry about - they are bringing this guy on".

 

"I've seen him out on a Saturday night. He has pig tails and calls himself Helga"

 

Isnt he outside his technical box? i know its tricky for a man of his stature to stay inside the technical box but we must have a level playing field.

However I have quickly created a new technical box for Steve Evans alongside the away teams technical box. I think the new shape is appropriate for him as well as fits in his stomach.

 

Didn't go Saturday but commentator did comment on him trying to get our players sent off even when a foul was not committed. Don't mind him managing as long as it is not us.

 

I know attempting to gauge the size of a club is a nebulous debate at the best of times. I don't think it's Posh's size that's the problem, they seem to struggle to draw a crowd even when they're doing well. It could be down to their owner wielding the axe of unemployment quite frequently that raises the pressure on managers.

Thinking back to some of his antics at VP, he might have other things in mind.

Yes as far as I know

 

He purchased 20 odd players so cannot argue the squad isn’t his. In fact as the season has gone on they have got worse. Hardly says a lot about his coaching. He buys good players. He doesn’t improve individuals.

 

Players are disposable commodities to Evans. It is a war of attrition with him. He signs plenty, falls out with some, casts them to one side, signs some more, falls out with them, casts that bunch to one side, then signs some more.

It sounds like there are some unrealistic expectations at the club though. Anyone who follows their chairman's account will know they have fans moaning about performances even when they have won. Christ, what a nice position it would be if you were able to moan about winning matches most weeks.
