He only been in the job long just over a season ?,when he had the heart attack, Tony Lieghton tried to resuscitate him but to no avail he sadly passed away.
We had a great run whilst he was at the club with 7 wins from 8 games that took us well up the league, Jimmy Wheeler getting us promoted the following season with much of the team that Hair had got together.
Again another great run leaving us to get a win at Darlington on that Friday night, after going a goal down the referee took both set of players of when there was trouble in the home end which the City fans occupied on the night, the referee brought both teams out after about 20/30 minutes and the lads roared back winning 3 - 1 on the night.

It was Willie Watson who built that team up @Bronco@Bronco , he was in charge from mid 1966 until he quit to go to South Africa in January 1968. Grenville then took over and brought in Tony Leighton and Denis Atkins from Huddersfield in exchange for Paul Aimson and Alex Smith who went to Town. Sadly Grenville Hair died just two months into the job during a training session . Stafford Heginbotham said he would have been one of our great managers had he lived.

I thought he'd not been in the job long, but looking on our friend Wiki it said he was in charge for 55 games,
I remember Pablo & Smith going the other way, sorry mate the old gray matter is not as good as it was.

I can remember the hoarding, barrier going behind the goal. 69 Wallace Arnold coaches that night.

I believe if the hoardings/wall incident had not happened, Tommy & Patsie have a lot to answer for we would have lost that game.

Wiki is wrong ,it was just 2 months that he was in charge. Nothing wrong with your memories, I remember that great night at Darlington as well. I was still a school kid and thought success would be a regular thing for City. Sadly I soon learnt. Pablo Aimson, now he was a classy player, his grandson used to play for Blackpool a couple of seasons ago and was sent off against us, I believe he's moved on now.
