No that's not my normal lunch routine!

Should the EFL bring in the 5 sub option?

I think it would be good and provide for a more entertaining game. More players could be hooked off for playing crap.

Or formations changed more often during a game.

Slightly injured players could be brought off rather than having to stop on cos all 3 subs had already been used.

That way the whole squad would get regular game play.

After the last couple of seasons 10 would be my option , we've had a poor bench for awhile and have had very little impact when coming on .

I think so @Storck@Storck but what was going on with Arsenal yesterday. Looked like Arteta was trying to make a double sub but game restarted while still waiting for 4th official to figure out the board for the second sub. Arteta was seriously pissed off. It meant that instead of subbing at next opportunity, he had to wait until his planned 3rd subbing to bring the guy on.

    See makes for great entertainment!

I don't see why we can't do what the rugby guys do and let subs re enter the game.

We could start Donaldinho and take him off after 30 mins and then bring him back on at 70 mins to keep him fresh. ;)

USA High School football (soccer) - unlimited subs, you can come out for a rest and go back in. Seen some coaches have an assistant with a stop watch and notebook. Send a kid on for 10 mins at full speed and then sub him out for a rest, doing it constantly with as many as they can. Must be hard to keep track of but means game is played at higher speed, a bit like ice hockey really.

If we are down to a squad of 20 or so if the EFL bring in a cap in the number of players. (Restrictions on the size of squads are also likely to be introduced, with 20 senior professionals per club generally accepted as a sensible number. Players under the age of 21 will be exempt from the cap).
Then many clubs could struggle to get a full bench!! So not sure it would work.

Even McCall has said, “I would probably say we are looking for a squad of 22-23, so it might not be a case of a raft of signings”.

It wont be long before its like that rugby the americans call football, where you have 0ne team for attack and a different team for defence. we will be changing the entire team every time the ball goes out of play.

I really hope not, i can see the reason for doing it now due to fitness concerns but i wouldnt want it implemented fully. the only good decision out of it is that all 5 subs must be made in 3 occasions only.

Imagine the extra bit of time wasting visiting teams to VP could employ with the extra subs.

    Can't wait.

Could we have a "subs bench " for fans ? . Like a reserve spectator for your seat if your'e not singing enough or not chanting the right names . Or if the footballs sh^te and you want to go home .

Don’t mind the idea of 5 subs tbh, 5 fresh players from each side late on could create faster pace finishes. Hard to tell at the moment though as behind closed doors games have the feel of international friendlies about them.

Plus you’d get to give more of the squad game time, which could work for the better if you have a decent squad or just sub one pile of crap for another in our case.

I'm divided on it. 10 subs is an awful lot of stoppages which is why they only allow 3 sub windows for each team and imho that causes more problems for managers than just having 3 subs in total. It does allow for more players to get some minutes though and could be useful for getting academy players some minutes. It also gives teams with the most money an advanatge as a Man City is going to have a stronger bench to call on than say Norwich.

If they were going to increase the number of subs I would maybe do something like require say 3 of the 9 subs to be academy players and make it so you can bring on the normal 3 subs from the senior players and 1 of the academy players. 1 extra sub that meant giving a young player minutes I think would be worth 2 extra stoppages a match
