A surprising lack of warmth for Ashley Ward on this thread so far.

River_City_Bantam Squad PlayerP.L.22/23 Entrant P.L.23/24 Entrant P.L. 20/21 Top 10
The first three, for me, are the three who don't need to have their surnames mentioned: Ces, Bobby, and Stuart. For exceptional services to club (and city).
For the fourth, I'll pick one from the solid, honest, reliable pros we've had over the years, who weren't flashy, who didn't necessarily get the attention they deserved, but who are the types of player every club needs to have. The Gavin Olivers / Dave Evanses / Brian Mitchells / Wayne Jacobses etc. etc. of this world.
I'll say Gavin Oliver.

Waddle (the goal against Everton). -
I admire the list from @Idlebantam , probably the true best of the best. I only got to see Stuart play from that list, but, I’m going to try and go for left-footed players ( as a lefty).
1. Paul Tomlinson - (positive he was a lefty - apologies if wrong). Early days attending games for me, generally felt safe with him in the nets.
2. Paul Showler - I lived in Goole for a while, and he played for Goole Town in the Northern Premier League (equivalent to National League North now I think) whilst working as a copper. He was obviously too good for that level, and it was nice to see him in a City shirt, having watched him at non-league.
3. Chris Waddle - don’t really care how old he was! At Selhurst Park, Palace away I think, sure it wasn’t Wimbledon, Des Hamilton was bringing the ball out and made a mess of his pass, heard somebody say, “probably couldn’t believe it, Waddle to his left, a Brazilian (Edinho) to his right, no wonder he got it wrong”.
4. Wayne Jacobs - what a trier, made the best of himself and didn’t let anybody down. -
