Agree - gutted Smallwood has a clause in his favour. IMHO he has been a very expensive failure, and he isn’t what we need in midfield. How can it be right to suggest he is”ok” if we play several others around him to accommodate his obvious weaknesses. The saving grace is the extension was his decision - not the club’s - although quite daft for the club to be in such a weak negotiating position - perhaps if Smallwood wants to extend his career beyond June 2025 his agent will have been told to find him terms elsewhere. If he stays in the team he should never be allowed near another set piece. I’m 66 and my delivery is still better.

If there's another forum with fans present, I'll keep asking GA the question why the hell is he taking set pieces? If I was a centre half, I would be asking the same question too. We have such a poor return from our defenders because they're not 8 feet 10 inches tall in their socks.

I don't get this Stubbs hate that seems to have appeared lately. Yeah, he had a dodgy spell around the time Alexander came in but it didn't last long from memory. He was then fighting for his place until his injury and looked good when called upon. To me he's a slightly better version of Platt, mainly due to being more vocal, but there's not a lot in it. Either of them with one or two ball-playing centre halves either side of them (in the mould of Critchlow) will do for me.

Just get rid of Ash Taylor FFS. The oil tanker that got stuck in the Suez canal a few years ago turned faster than he's ever done!

GA was asked that question recently and he said he was sending him out there to take corners etc., in his view he is not perfect but t certainly doesn’t shy away from the responsibility. My point would be that I accept he is stepping forward but he is still crap at taking them bravery on its own without skill is not enough.

 

We don't want players we're looking to move on, turning up for preseason training. As you say pay them off and have everyone invested in getting out of this league from day 1. It'll certainly cost money to shift Taylor because no one is going to pay a fee for him.

 

Not seen enough of these two, could be useful utility players given the chance ...

 

The trouble we have is getting someone to take Oliver and Ash Taylor off our hands and replacing them with two proven players of quality .if we could do that and a couple of Premier loans of young talent I would be happy for next year

 

Why allow added pressure on the lad? Everyone can see that he's struggling, and in close games a decent set piece can be the difference. GA should grow a pair and tell him in no uncertain terms that he isn't too go anywhere near a set piece from the first whistle to the last.

 

McDonald, Oliver, Taylor, Odusina & Wilson I can see being moved on or paid off. Then maybe Oduor and Smith are a notch below in the might end up going if we get better signings bracket. I cant see Smith or Oduor wanting to stay if the are say 5th choice.

 

Smallwood has set up plenty of goals from set pieces.
