Happy enough with Smallwood, very disappointed Stubbs is staying and that we've triggered a clause. That's sloppy.

Surprised by Wadsworth as they were singing his praises recently and he's even got on the pitch.

Bobby definitely deserves new terms, though his deal may have improved?

 

Plenty of work to do during the summer months.
Having now seen the list we need to find clubs who want the likes of Oliver, Taylor and Odusina because non of that trio are promotion material in my opinion.
Mc Donald's a strange one is he going to hang around or perhaps branch out into coaching full time with someone else.
Lots to mull over with little room for failure if you believe the clubs speil, interesting months ahead building a squad capable of promotion.

 

George Ray is a poor version of Ash Taylor, If he was in our thoughts we may as well stick with Taylor imo

 

I said when Evans went to Rotherham that it might work out well for Oliver (and us). I believe he lives in Sheffield so it would be a great move for him if Evans still wants him.

 

Stubbs’s contract triggered the clause, not the club, XX appearances = automatic one year extension. We probably had no choice due to injuries etc JB?

 

I wonder if Timi and Harry Chapman will both end up back at Hartlepool ? Maybe more heading in the same direction?

 

Disappointed with Smallwood staying but not surprised. Problem is, because it's not a new deal per se, he's likely to be on the same high wage as he was when he signed and which he has failed to justify.

 

I imagine it was triggered after 20 games, although maybe it was based over 2 seasons.

If that's so, he only played a handful over 20.

At one point we'd refuse to play players if it triggered clauses that didn't work for the club.

I think it's disappointing he stays, he has never looked like a GA type player, yes he's had a cracked skull which I hope he gets over ASAP, but for me, he was the defender that was going to leave to give us room to improve that area of the pitch.

 

I've been disappointed with him overall but in several games towards the back end of the season he has shown what an asset he can be when he has players with pace making themselves available to him along with the wingbacks. And I agree that if you watch his work off the ball he does actually give a toss.

 

The positive I'm trying to take from it is that the extension is due to a clause being triggered, not that we've activated the clause. That gives me hope that the improvement we've seen from him over the last few games is solely due to the way GA has been playing him, rather than him upping his game to get a contract extension, because he already knew he was staying.

I've just read Taylor is on a 3 year deal. I though it was 2 which is bad enough but 3???!!!

 

You can only trigger a clause in a contract, if its in your favour.
Smallwood i do not mind, Stubbs, blah. dont Exeter want him back? please.

 

The level of “ investment” dictates I’m sure. If it was money no option they would pay him off to create a squad place.

 

I seen to be in a minority of one but I rate Stubbs as our best centre half and centrally, in a 3 I think he could have a very good season if given the game time.
