That same poster was also all over the forum when Tulloch starred at Newport to tell us how wrong we all were about Tulloch and Afoka.

Strangely, he wasn't about much after that.

Im not too concerned about loans.

Crichlow, Banks, Wright, Tomkinson and Oyegoke all get passes from me. Rest been dire but its not different to pre Gent eras.

We had some absolute dross on loan when Parky was in charge, when McCall was in charge and ever since.

 

Cheap young loans that bulk out squads aren't critical, or even particularly likely to work out.

It's just summat to whinge about.

 

My only gripe is they do come at a cost and when you add them all up you could potentially get 1 decent player for the same price.

I felt our late influx in August was completely unneccesssary - and despite signing Wilson full time, adding Tulloch and Afoka aswell looked like a complete waste of budget.

 

Gillingham announced lapslie and Hawkins available for transfer , sharpe had both at Mansfield wouldn’t be surprised to see them linked

 

Hawkins is a terrible player, I'd hope we go nowhere near him.

Lapslie was lauded when Gills signed him but I've never seen him do anything other than being a dirty barsteward against us, for Mansfield or Gillingham and doesn't really seem like he'd massively improve us on those showings.

Lapslie might be a decent back up in the 10 role, if Alexander plays the same formation you need 4 in that position Walker,pointon, Pattison plus another

 

I said the same the other day when a few were unsure over a Crichlow return.

The well is definately dry when it comes to freebie CBs and we need 3, maybe even 4! Oyegoke, Tomkinson gonw, Taylor told to go and Platt up in the air. We only have Stubbs and Kelly.

Still a few clubs to turn over their released lists but its gunna be PL youths or over the hill Championship CBs in that pool - that we can attract.

Wonder if we will bring anyone else over from Ireland? Kelly has adapted well, and links with Platt nicely.

Always noticed the talent that comes from there. The best players hold their own at Championship level.

 

Probably will take Oduor on loan for a season and he'll blast them into league 1 with 50 goals.

Callum Johnson linked online. Ex-Mansfield right back, ex-Boro youth ticks a box for Sharpe and Gent.

Was a regular L1 full back until moving to Scotland in the summer of 2022, then moved to Mansfield 18 months ago. Was seemingly getting a run in the side and then had a bad injury in January. Has played wing back in a 5, full back in a 4 but has covered both sides before. Looks like he has played CB or DM when needed too. Another utility guy?

 

His agent getting busy…… We don’t want another Jack of all trades.

 

He's played 90-95% of his career at right back/right wing back, but looks another one of those who fills in somewhere else for a handful of games a season.

 

I think right back / right wing back is the least of the holes we need to fill, given the form of Halliday. I don't think Johnson would want to be a back up, but maybe he might given his injury.
