Albert Whitehurst holds City's record for most goals in one match, SEVEN against Tranmere Rovers.

Edinho I loved watching. Also not in living memory but one of the FA cup winning team at least.

I'm surprised so many people have mentioned Stuart McCall, most people on here seem to think he's a right prick and a bit useless.

my vote goes to Gus Uhlenbeek. and Darren Holloway.

Yes, that is just the problem, as we now can only go by the stats. How good it would be to unearth another Albert just now! I wonder why he didn't stay with us longer -- did Tranmere make an offer we couldn't refuse? That was an amazing run he had though.

Similarly, as SB posted above, at least a few (Speirs, O'Rourke at minimum, I'd suggest) of the FA Cup winning side should make the list.

Agree with the 1911 squad, also the record goals scored squad and promotion champions of 1928/29 which would include Sam Barkas.

Sorry @Ricc@Ricc - not seen any posts (that I can remember) describing Stuart the #4 in those terms.
My #1 of all time though.

Only player that I'm surprised not to see mentioned so far is Andy O'Brien. Deserves to at least be in the conversation.

For what it's worth my top 3...

    1. Robbie Blake - the greatest footballer ever seen at VP.
    2. Stuart McCall.
    3. Nigel Pepper - absolute hero in the run in to the 96/97 season.

Can't believe it took so long for Andy O'Brien to get a mention.

And what about the legendary John Dreyer. Without his goal at Sunderland we wouldn't have stayed in the Premiership for a second season (okay, in hindsight that might not have been such a good thing)

McCall - Enough said. Immense in our promotion season and to stay in prem
