Just watched Ipswich beat Udders to progress to the PL in 2 seasons! They didn’t need loads of time they just needed loads of commitment and good recruitment. They described the club as the beating heart of success from top to bottom. The interviewed young Hirst son of David Hirst (Sheffield Wednesday) he knew he wanted to play for Ipswich as soon as he saw the place and he knew they would make it all the way.

I have always been of the view it will take time, but apparently not! We may need to rethink this.

One thing Ipswich have had is loads of cash. Gotta remember that one Mrs O, without that you're pissing in the wind. New owners turned them round then looked for outside investment which they got from the US.

Not rocket science though. £6 million! We wasted that amount in 2/3 seasons. It was the unity of the club that struck me, and seen by the owners who run the club.

Their owners wiped the club's £100 million debt when they took over. Their recruitment has been great and wasn't just about paying big money for already proven players at that level. But without clearing that massive figure, I expect a significant proportion of their budget would be needed to service that debt.

The key wasnt so much the money, but identifying mckenna. He’s class.

could have spent 60m and still not gone up had the picked the wrong coach.

they thought outside the box but their xG was phenomenal last year so not surprised at all theyve gone back to back. Happy days as they werent favs at all.

Mark Ashton as CEO should take so much credit.

His determination to get McKenna should be applauded and recognise his qualities and stick to the plan, also applauded

All I wanted to see was Kieran McKenna the man. What are his values? What is his work ethic? How did he communicate? Could he lead? Could he bear the weight of Ipswich Town Football Club? Two former England managers, the potential for 30,000 people in League One, a former players' association littered with internationals – could he bear the weight of that? I think every single day he has done this football club proud

Completely miffed that City didn't get their act together and go up this season. A derby with that lot next season would have really got VP bouncing like we haven't seen for far too long now. That alone would have got my juices flowing for the day the fixtures are announced.

Been to a few work events there ( non football) and the facilities were excellent however it took a grand total of about £80 m in debt to get them. What is clear is they have done really well since the US owner bought them out . The twin grandsons training as schoolboys with a Prem club. Who would have thought?

For the record ,which is important , the owner is a multi billionaire and put wheelbarrow pots of money in . About £5m on three players alone. Shows what wisely spent investment can do with a good manager.

So they spent £6m but also lost almost £20m after wiping out the previous debts.

I know the outcome in my heart of hearts as the likelyhood of success is oh so slim Derrick but I’ll enjoy the ride as long as I’m still about. The set of 3/4 sized goals in the garden may come in handy after all?. Bless ‘em:sun:

You need a decent CEO. We don’t have that.

Ipswich will probably start as favourites for the drop no doubt. How they spend to survive will be key to their future success. The championship and league are littered with failed premiership clubs who are riddled with crippling debt. Without having that year or two in the championship to organically grow, will they have to recruit heavily to bring in the required quality to hold their own in premier league? They’ll certainly have to hit the ground running or they’ll be straight back down.

For sure, the Premier League is so boring and predictable.

No doubt Ipswich will go down, but hopefully they can give it a good go like Luton did this season.

    The PL is boring as..

The PL allowed Man City to make it boring and not handle the 115 charges quick enough.

Then it’s too easy to predict who will go down.

Kieran Maguire posted the profit and loss of league one clubs in 20022/23, Ipswich blew most other clubs out of the water. It's a similar situation to Wrexhams success, both now well run clubs but that success primarily based on a massive spending structure.
