Without an early bird offer there's no incentive to buy early which causes cash flow issues over the summer months with very little other money coming in. Also it's impossible to plan the budget for the new season from an accounting point of view and from a salary cap point if you don't know how many season ticket holders you'll have. It also rewards those that commit early. There's a reason why every club does it this way.

And the same conversation is had every year when people say either the deadline should either be pushed back or got rid of totally. Every year it happens.

What sort of a club announces an early bird deadline on a day when their ticket office is closed all day though?

no body on hand to support. Indefensible decision, hence why they extended it another day. Clueless, this club.

The early bird deadline wasn't Sunday, that was just the deadline to renew your seats. The deadline people are talking about extending is the deadline for the early bird prices which isn't until the end of the month.

That is an important deadline for ST holders; the fact as you say the club sees the sale of cheaper tickets ends at the end of April says it all for me. They couldn’t care less whether you have the same seat or not.

I'm not renewing for next season and from reading this topic I'm glad I won't be as the whole renewal process appears to be a dog's breakfast.
You have to question the wisdom of introducing a new ticketing system mid-season, especially as close to season ticket purchases. The biggest single ticket event of the year and most likely the biggest income generator for the club.
The new system should really have been launched as soon as the early bird offer closes and the season was done.
It would allow the transfer of data across to the new system and the light user activity could push out any glitches without significant impact to most supporters and allow the ticket staff to handle the issues without drowning under the torrent of emails/calls/walk-ups.
It would have also allowed the club to plan it's communication strategy better. With far less going on at VP, they would have had several weeks to issue communications about registering and using the new system via email, social media and the website.

Moved seats with only minimal swears from the ticket office member, must be getting the hang of it! He said its always been enter the ticket number, removed old allocation and click on the new seat, reallocate. Job done. But in the new system, you have to clear the user account seating details, then go to the old seat, removed the old seat, then select a new seat, then go into the user account and enter the new details there too. Doubled the length in time it used to take to switch seats.

Also, anyone with an ST card, those won't work next season. There's going to be a new app to replace the current app everyone will need to download instead. Details will be emailed out in the summer.

I know. But there was a deadline to renew seats on Sunday and the club shop was shut all day. Terrible.

you didnt need to be Einstein to know fans would have issues that day (even just renewing, not moving) as the new system has been implemented and has caused issues for weeks.

anyone with a brain would have set that deadline on a working day or, alternatively, expected issues and opened up the ticket office on the Sunday as a one off.

No idea, all he said to me was our cards won't work and we'll need the new app once it's ready to be rolled out. I'd imagine they'd have something lined up?.... but this is City.

On the F&Q's on the website. It says that some will still get a complimentary plastic card with others being able to request one for £5.

"Youths, Juniors, and supporters requiring accessible facilities, along with their personal assistants, will have the option to request a complimentary physical plastic season ticket card - the procedure for which will be communicated in due course. A physical plastic season ticket card will be available to supporters without access to a smartphone, for a nominal, one-off fee of £5 - reflecting the club's continued commitment to sustainability.

I am presuming we can’t swap seats online? So it would be a trip to the Ticket Office where you can queue for hours?

Just in person or phone the office. Today is just for lower kop seats, then from midday tomorrow seat swaps are available to all. To be fair I went down at 12 and was in and out within 10 mins.

Hmmm, there looks like there are literally thousands who haven't bother to renew at the moment. These are the available seats as of today in the kop.

    upload_2024-4-10_14-44-7.png

And this is the ticket map for the game against Newport which has all season ticket seats from this year greyed out.

    upload_2024-4-10_14-45-54.png

    That is a massive difference.

The way they are selling tickets this season seems strange. As far as I remember, in past seasons, they usually reserved seats throughout the early bird period.

Often supporters renewed in the last 48 hours of the offer.

l anticipate quite a few will not realise that seats will be open to anyone, and assume their seats are secure until the end of the Early Bird Session.

So Bradford City with crap communications, there is a rare idea.....

Looking at that ticket map, it's no surprise that Ryan flew off to Germany. It would have been worse prior to the "seat deadline".
