I found these couple of comments interesting:

with regards to the commercial appeal of the EFL, there appears to be much more interest of minority investment in lower division sides and indeed over 30% of English league clubs are part of networks with stakes in other football clubs worldwide. No doubt a precursor of things to come.

As with many things, the world is changing very quickly and we need to address, prepare and adapt for events which may be largely out of our control. I have referred to this earlier in this article as the style and nature of football clubs in the future will change with possible ‘global membership’ and free interchange of players. Football clubs will become an even larger player in the community with educational and sporting activities a significant part of their remit. I have no doubt that matters could change quite rapidly, and financial assistance will be a large part of this equation.

If you compared us with 95% of the 72 I’d say we have done pretty well thus far, even if we do lose a million, which seems to please some “ fans” bizarrely .

 

Last years numbers are in brackets.

 

These are a year old up to April 23 so how much will we lose this season?1 Mill perhaps? Rupp will have to dig very very deep to fund next seasons player budget methinks. The losses compare favourably with others but we do seem to now be going in the wrong direction.

That’s the trend for sure. Commercial matchday income will be certainly down for sure .

 

Its a £400k loss. Could have been a lot worse, could have been a bit better. Increasing costs versus good ST ticket sales and related commercial income.

The income side is unlikely to be any where as good this coming year, so Rupp either allows the difference to be paid for by reducing outgoings (the easiest pot to raid is the player budget) or puts his hand in his pocket and provides the income himself.

I think he has said (in his open letter) he is going to put his hand in his pocket. And this alongside the "head of football" appointment may slow the haemorrhaging ST and commercial sales somewhat. BUT he will still have a large hole to plug going forward for the club to tread water financially.

So, if correct, Rupp is in exactly the same position as most lower EFL league owners, and the Club's financial dependency upon him will only increase, even more so if we do not improve on the playing side of things and get the ST sales back on track.

But, honestly, the £400k loss this year is chicken feed compared to what other Clubs are facing.
