All teams at this level have exactly the same problems. The ones that are more consistent tend to be in the top seven come this part of the season. Our start to the season under Hughes and his change of tactics but without the recruitment effectively killed our season.
You could use MK Dons as an example of a manager change that did work but they realised early what the problem was and knew how to rectify it. We decided to take that problem off them because the club has no strategy other than to chop and change and hope for a miracle.
Hopefully the rumour abound of someone coming in who understands how football works is true because first and foremost that's what any aspiring manager needs, Alexander included.

He was talking about the oppositions 6 yard area.

Does he, or is there no one else to pick in that position, Mcdonald possibly, he has a good football brain, but is as slow as Smallwood , and how much has the transplant surgery taken out of him. Big improvement needed in the engine room for next season.

Alexander saying, no quality on show from either team, reacted well after going behind rather than our resent collapse, showed right character after going 1 - 0 down, happy with 4 points from a possible 6, Walker dropped because we needed to deal with set pieces, strange comment don't play potentially your most creative player so we can defend set pieces better, or have I misheard him.

WYSD on the ball Alexanders post match interview already posted : https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0hn5f65

He really rates him Andy, has done since he had him on loan at Scunny. Said so a couple of weeks ago. Nailed on he'll be here next season if GA is.

That was a bizarre explanation of why he left out our best player.

Play to your own strengths, rather than be negative and worrying about a struggling team.

Sorry, but just don't trust Alexander with the summer budget and rebuild.

The guy has no backbone, just like Sparks and Rupp. We always talk about the right mentality when it comes to player recruitment, but it seems we never ask the same question when it comes to managers.

    What chances mate? Seriously!

It’s like people haven’t watched the last 3-6 months. We are a poor side!

It’s something that shows such a weak attitude.
McCall did it all the time.
His pre match stuff was always about how good the other team are and how dangerous they could be.
We are worried about Grimsby (4th bottom) so we take out our most dangerous player.

    Weak weak management.

The teller for me was the lame brain excuse of " issues " iff the poor lambs are affected its his job to sort it and motivate, that defines a good manger from the rest, what he said was a total copout and for me was weak, l honestly do not trust this fella with next season's retained and transfer list for me he can go !

Erm;) Their keeper was allowed to take an age doing anything. I know both sides were poor but the referee just utterly spoiled it. Their lad sent off wasn’t the lad who fouled Halliday was it, I wonder why he was sent parking Olly?

I was prepared to give GA time Dave, but my confidence in him is slowly waning.
To leave one of our better players out (Jamie Walker) because "Grimsby take long throws" and his previous comments that "we never concentrate on the opposition but how we play" plus "our teams are set up to attack"
Deary me, you really do have to do better GA, hope your summer dealings reflect on your words.

Gets my goat that lark Kev.
Players on the bench should be ready to come straight on if required.
Grimsby's stand in 'keeper took five bloody minutes to get ready, even having to get his boots on and tie them.
Same applies to the other subs - be ready ffs!

I thought this for awhile, but I have changed my mind. If we give him the budget and he still can’t get us up the league by October, we will be exactly the same situation as this season. Hughes spent the budget on this lot, new manager comes in and we are broke and back to square one.

I think whether we agree with his decision or not, I understand the logic of bringing some height in to deal with their set pieces
That said, we were woeful in possession today and I’m sure Walker would have been useful in that sense and an attacking sense
I just wish Alexander would be more ambitious and attacking with his selections
Seven defensive players in every line up is just too negative for me (NOT calling for his head though, not by any means)

Wouldn't surprise me if he got rid of Halliday and Pointon and then offered new deals to Ridehalgh and Smallwood.

I don't want to hear comments by fans next season of "give the team ten/twelve games to 'gel'"
All that stuff should be done before a ball is kicked. Good teams are at it from the off, no messing.
Get that good start and it becomes a roller coaster instead of catch up.
