Match Thread Wycombe BSM semi final(with Poll)

Consoling myself, that we couldn't score in a month of Sundays last night, and their keeper was having the best day of his career. We weren't ever going to win the shoot out. Super game to watch, and we played so well. Suprised how lethargic Wycombe were. My only worry, is that with Cook back in the team, we revert to Plan A again. Looks like we've actually found a gem in Kavanagh and we should certainly look to aim the gameplay up front around him (via Oduor...who'd have thunk it?) rather than lumping it up to a flogged Cookie.

Saturday could very well be the turning point of our season.

The level of fluidity between the lines was outstanding. The mix of long and short passing had their midfield completely bamboozeled and just didn’t exist at times. I never thought having Smallwood and KMc on at the same time would work. Credit to the team and GA…….Terrific performance.

 

We missed Cookie in one respect, however we didn’t in another. Lumping balls to his head no longer works, that’s what we would have probably done with him playing?

That forwardline with a fit Young, instead of Smith would have been something else last night?

 

Let’s see. That knee in the side looked bloody painful. Kidneys? Platt would be another big miss. Both him and Kelly have always been pretty resilient …I fear?

I went with my grandson. We were hoping this would lead to a Wembley trip together. An emotional ride home. Great game. Could not believe a 2nd Division team could play like that never mind City. I see so many games I can hardly remember any particular one - but I will last nights. I do think if Cook had been in that penalty area he might have got one in by some means.

For a striker - Smith is not the answer. He misses so many chances it’s embarrassing for him.

Read a few fabs saying we played better without lumping it to Cook etc. I think you’ll find we still lumped it up to Smith at times which was a futile thing to do given his height! I’m not criticising the lads, it was a great shift from them all, and I don’t have a problem with long balls at times to relieve pressure.

if cook played last night he buries that flashed cross across goal and we progress. Whether he had the pace to get on smiths chance in second minute I doubt. But Smith also shot at GK in second half in box, and Cook buries that too.

we are a much better team with cook in it over smith. Kavanagh and Oduor both excellent last night again so a like for like swap on Sat and we’re set.

cook enjoys playing barrow, too.

 

That was my concern if we’d have got through. Being torn apart at Wembley is no fun - aka Swansea.
