Match Thread Wycombe BSM semi final(with Poll)

Can easily see the same match happening tomorrow as we watched tonight. Blackpool put up something of a fight in the first half but Peterborough the better team.

I can't see us coming from behind if Wycombe score so we need to start on the front foot and score first.

 

7 goals when they played each other a week or so ago.

Only 4,000 there, mind.

 

I think neutrals have a weird thing about us. If we’re on TV, we’re like the forgotten former Prem team from quiz shows. Just look at how popular we are with these social media FIFA players. Neutrals will tune in to see us, but Peterborough and Wycombe are just meh clubs, in my opinion

Agree. I don't think we have anything to be scared of though. All the more reason to attack.

They beat us in the FA Cup but we were arguably the better team (comedy own goal after Osadebe lost ball and Stubbs headed into own net?) and that was before GA took over.

I acknowledge, given they are L1, they are a better side than us if at their best. However, we've beaten Barnsley and Derby, both L1 sides, already, and they have had a charmed run through the knockouts, playing three sets of kids on their way here.

I also think our lads will be getting used to the bare pitch - which might be a psychological advantage over some of these visiting teams in the weeks ahead. Not totally sure, but MK Dons, a good footballing side, were easily brushed aside. I guess Sutton like to play direct, so didn't matter to them as much.

But I think we have a decent chance of causing an upset here. I like the fact we are underdogs and I will be going down for the first time this season in this comp (hopefully not jinxing us!)

By the time we know if we’re going to Wembley, trains to Kings Cross beyond Peterborough will probably be all sold out or too expensive.

 

Why don’t you do a Blackpool and get them booked? Lol

 

Seems both teams have hit a bit of form. Us from a defence point of view, and them in an attacking aspect. Should be anyone’s game. I think we’ll see the difference in L1 passing and movement. Having Cook not playing might work to our advantage, in the fact we’re not going to lump it forward all the time. I’d like to see us soaking up pressure, then look to use the wings and counter at pace. Will be a lot of focus on Kav to get behind their defence. Really need Smallwood to step up and move the ball quickly and forward. McDonald better at this and I hope he starts.

 

Looking at the seats still available, we could be looking at crowd of around 7k tonight which should produce a good atmosphere with everyone concentrated in the lower tiers.

 

I am slightly concerned about Mac playing in this game when we need him for Saturday. If for whatever reason he can’t play on Saturday, Smallwood is banned, who is going to play in the middle with Gilly?

 

We didn't see the difference in Lge 1 passing and movement in the FA Cup game. Let's hope we don't tonight.
