They would tough to play against on a big, wide pitch. Opposition would need to be fit and athletic. Wouldn't want to play against them in a play-off final type of match especially with the potential for extra time. That said, they need to find a way to create more chances.

He always is Dave. I believe that before last nights game, Payne had scored in all 3 or 4 games he has played against us

Well that is your prerogative and as I said it is understandable and I won't berate fellow fans for their decisions, but it is nice to get a couple of convincing wins against the so-called "contenders" under our belts

and anyway it is 2 swallows :joy:

That was the best performance I've seen from a City side for years.

Everyone played well. JT at the back was solid as a rock alongside Platty and Kelly. Smallwood and McDonald both ran the show. Oduor played well, took his goal well and created the one for Kav. He could press harder, but that's just being picky.

I sit in the main stand and there's a negative trio who sit near me and just before Oduor set up Kavanagh they were shouting to have him taken off. The fans around me took extra delight when he nearly scored then later on did.

Cooky was class. Won nearly every header and pressed high.

MK Dons passing the ball around at 4-0 down across the back 4 with no urgency was one of the most bizarre things i've every seen.

As we saw many times under Mark Hughes, teams in this league who try to play it out from the back really struggle for a plan B when in a losing position. They don't have a clue what to do

Also yes it is nice to not have to be critical of our team for a change, but there are always a few fans who aren't happy. I have this douchebag sat behind me and at least twice last night he bellowed "come on Cook!!" when the poor lad was winning everything and we were 3 or 4 nil up. Baffling behaviour lol

That performance was all we’ve been asking for. You need at least 8 or 9 players at it for 90+ minutes, not 2 or 3. The most complete performance we’ve witnessed at VP in a long time and will hopefully set the tone for the remainder of the season.

I could understand it at 4-0 down damage limitation etc but we use to do the same with Hughes st 1-0 down :(

The first twenty minutes of the match was vital for us. Withstanding the really good quick football they were playing Tomkinson in particular made some great last ditch tackles. If they had scored then the result could have been much different

It will be interesting to see how GA lines us up on Saturday with one eye on the semi final. Smallwood already out of contention due to getting his 10th yellow, both Young and Kelly took knocks which might make them doubtful for Saturday and can big Kev manage 3 games in 8 days?

Quick word about the pitch. Yes it looked shocking but didn't actually seem to play that bad.

Erm........ It really wasn't. We've actually played better than that this season and lost! I would say the away game at Newport was our best all round performance and result, closely followed by the tinpot Cup game at Derby.
Look, I'm one of the most optimistic posters on here, a happy clapper if you like but to say it was our best performance in ages is stretching it a bit!
We didn't have much of the ball and played on the break, which was absolutely the right thing to do against a ball-hogging side like MK. I said it a few weeks ago that some fans just see a scoreline and infer from that whether we were good or crap without looking at the game as a whole. On the night the tactics worked a treat but we won't be able to play like that against Sutton who will play like we did last night, defensively and on the break. I still believe this season isn't dead yet but let's not go overboard with the praise.......... just yet! :p

We'd have hit double figures if we'd started Messi and Ronaldo instead of having them on the bench.

It ok Sutton coming here to set up defensively but they currently stand 7 points off safety played one more game and have a minus -10 goal difference ............. a point here may have been a good result earlier on in the season but there at the point where they have to go for it
