Well……how was that for everyone? Our defence was magnificant, it looks like Lucetti has been working hard with the lads. You get your defence right and that allows the forward players to get forward and score. The ref was absolutely appalling. Is that another ban for Smallwood? It is difficult to pick out any player to be honest just a hard working team performance. Kevin McDonald was our lynch pin, but Smallwood was also great tonight. Onwards and upwards for a change. All we can do is win the next match.

I think our defence is turning out to be one of the best in the division,very good tonight.I have my negative post on Smallwood this season but if plays well like he did when Mcdonald was in charge and in the last two or three games for the rest of the season then we will be on a winner.

 

The back 3 were superb AGAIN.
But what we had tonight was a left wing back in Gilliead who could match Halliday on the right for athleticism, attitude, and a footballing brain.
Macdonald creates space around him due to his quality and ability to pick the right passes, and up top we had pace either side of a slimmer Andy Cook.
As Kavanagh was the new guy and I've not seen him live yet, I kept my eyes on him and you know what, I'm very pleased with what I saw.
Good attitude to press, confidence and has pace.
Not everything came off for him but he will improve.
A little drop of the shoulder, fast feet and attempted dribble in the second half reminded me of, dare I say it and don't riducule me, Robbie Blake when we signed him from Darlington.
His size, physique and low centre of gravity, had all the hallmarks of Blakey.
Really hope he gets chance to improve.
Could have a player there.

 

Well Smallwood won't be playing on Saturday. Raynor's just tweeted that was his 10th yellow tonight so he'll miss the next two games.

 

Early days, but Kavanagh looks a good signing

Good athlete, strong, good feet, not the best finisher from what I've seen pre-game, but a useful player with a decent eye for a pass.

Kavanagh-Cook-Young, you know what... it might just work...

 

If it's 3-4-3 then a left footed is needed on the right to come inside and open the space for the right wing back.

 

Good win against a good side.

 

And it looked like Mcdonald took a bit of a knock, hope he's OK.
