It'll be interesting to see where Payne plays. Since they thrashed us, he's been playing a little deeper in midfield. But it looks like they've had some fitness issues up front, and actually Kemp was moved from his 10 slot to the striker role and Payne moved back to the 10 role recently. I think Williamson said they are touch and go for a few fitness wise.

Yeh, I like him. He has a no nonsense approach. Admittedly I reckon this will cost us a few more fouls and possible penalties (think he gave away the one against Crewe?) But still, rather have someone not afraid to stick a boot or head in.

There will need to be a reduction in the squad size this summer to retain or bring in quality going forward. This is true even if we were to have the same playing budget, which looks highly unlikely. I suppose it is how far will the cull go to free up the cash?

The counterbalance is that there will be a lot of other L2/L1 clubs in a similar position, so wage demand from players generally may be low.

 

I just hope it isn't "Payne"-ful viewing tonight.
