Looks like Oyegoke is here to stay and we have renegotiated his loan. What I will say is Oyegoke does provide cover at RB, CB and DM so there are opportunities there to shift 2, maybe even 3 on if he is there as cheap cover.

 

I can't see us wanting to let McDonald go unless he asks to leave. If Smallwood gets injured/suspended then McDonald is his natural replacement. He sacrificed his match fitness to get us out of a hole, if we binned him off now it wouldn't be a good look and I don't think it would go down well in the changing room. With Derbyshire I think he will know it's likely his last season so I'm not sure if he would have many offers, also if Young does come back he's a good option to have as the 5th striker

 

If we can keep Tomkinson we have plenty of pace at the back with him and Kelly unless you want to replace Platt.

 

Well so far McDonald has not made the squad for any of the games Alexander has been in charge,
Barrow home not in squad
Notts county away not in squad
Accrington home not in squad
Forrest Green away not in side
Gillingham away not in squad
I'm not sure he's a part of Alexanders plans going forward, hence my comment with regards giving him chance to find another club to play regular football, as that was his main reason for not wanting to take the managers job full time.
Not sure why binning him off would be a problem if the players fancy backing McDonald against Alexander that would be a pretty stupid stance IMO, we've have had our resent short success without McDonald even being named as a bench warmer.

 

Alexander said in his interview that there won't be a load of incoming but did say there could be some/one/two who knows. The list is short, but there is a list. Guessing that means we get rid then bring in.

Those who aren't wanted will probably have already been circulated or their parent clubs forewarned

 

Hard to disagree with any of that but I'd also add a gk to keep Lewis on his toes. He's back on form but having Doyle there as back up doesn't give competition. I'd take the young kid who played for Liverpool u21s against us if he was available. Gives him a bit of experience of it all and certainly looked like he has potential.

Other than that finding names for these positions is very difficult without knowing the money available is tough. One player I have kept an eye on is Conteh at Grimsby, absolutely bossed us in the home game and seems to be going from strength to strength. He will cost a bit I reckon

 

He did well but he’s only played 7 games this season for the Haddock’s. Considering he came from Middlesborough via Gateshead, one has to ask how is it Gent wasn’t aware of him?

Liverpool keeper…zero chance.

 

Wouldn't surprise me if GA got rid of both Stubbs and Taylor and brought in his favourite in Ashley Eastham who captain Salford and who's currently a free agent.

He doesn’t seemed to have played anywhere this season….Not for me.

 

McDonald had a hamstring injury when Alexander joined which is why he was out some of the early squads. Just because he's not in the squad I wouldn't say he's not in the plans it's probably more than we just don't have space for him with the other midfield options. If we had 9 subs I think he would be on the bench

 

You may be correct with regards a hamstring injury he must have picked it up in training as he prefered to watch from the touchline rather than pick himself for game time, but suggesting if we had 9 subs he would be on the bench says it all especially after the stick the likes of Gilliead, Smallwood etc got for not performing previously to Alexanders time here. Alexander has already said he's not one for rotating if the team are getting results and at the moment we are, if he's serious about wanting game time which I agree at his age is the important thing he should be looking elsewhere IMO.

 

It's just a guess, hence why I said 'it wouldn't surprise me", he's pretty much followed Alexander from Fleetwood to Salford. You don't need to start panicking.

 

Last thing I do

 

Vastly experienced at this level and 6ft 3in tall. Only problem would be fitness.

 

Injured for most of last season, without a club since the summer, a big no from me

 

And the fact he is on the scrap heap and clearly finished with league football.

Weve had managers sign their 'mates'. Hughes brought in Derbyshire, Adams brought in Threlkeld, Bowyer brought in Pritchard etc

Shite.

 

If that's the case, then it's a big no from me as well.

 

Hughes brought in Lewis, Adams brought in Songo'o. Parkinson brought in Reid. You can go both ways.

I don't think Pritchard was a bad player his biggest issue was being able to stay fit.
