To be fair, having seen him in the Rose & Crown at last orders many times, I'm surprised he's reached 70. He's really not a good advert for what Alien Life looks like.

 

Ok I don’t know if you were at the game but despite him not having a shot on target it did require last ditch tackles to prevent him getting a shot away.
My comment about a hatrick was based on that because on another night if those tackles are not made and with a bit of composure / experience it could have been different.
He made some of our top earning seasoned pros look like complete mugs on several occasions during the game. He’s the kind of player I’d like to see here on loan.

 

It creates momentum and provides options to play and try things out with no reserve league

 

I read a comment that I can't now find that this competition provides GA with friendly games mid-season.

I think that's the best way to say it.

We really didn't make the most of our preseason friendly schedule under Hughes. Not sure we even won a single game, did we?

Kinda silly when friendlies are just as important for breeding confidence and scoring goals against non league opposition as they are for organization and tactics.

 

Definitely can't agree with you there. It might be his best life but is desperately unsettling to the folk in & around his vicinity. A massive nuisance

Strange fellow really, as I have chatted to him a few times after matches when the Barracks Tavern on Lumb Lane was still open and he could hold a reasonable conversation

 

The lowest he will be going on loan anywhere is the top of the Championship, as I said in a previous post I wouldn't be worried about how he played as he will be playing European Football next week if his injury isn't too bad and he'll probably get into double figures for first team appearances at Liverpool this season if he doesn't go out on loan.

 

You've absolutely no chance. If Liverpool allowed Doak to go on loan it would be a top end Championship club as the absolute minimum and I'd be very surprised if a few PL clubs haven't already enquired about his availability.

 

If those tackles had not been made? By that logic if they’d not have made tackles and blocked either it could have been 105-101 like a basketball match. Tackling is why the defence is there, it’s like saying if we didn’t play with a keeper. It makes no sense because it’s football and it’s their job and also swings both ways. Regarding him we have no chance, he’s played in the first team and is well above league 2 level, you’ve a very unrealistic view of this entire situation which is what often causes over critical thinking.

 

Do they carry forward from the group stages into the knockout stages?

 

I sit very near him in the kop, he doesn't bother me one bit. Usually have a few words with him after the game in the concourse. Each to their own but I have far bette things to worry about in life than someone getting a bit vocal at a football match.

 

Making tackles is all part of football or am I missing a trick here?

 

He's probably already earning several times what our "top earning seasoned pros" are earning.

Yes, agree, Bobby will have to bide his time, I can’t see Pattison taking Gilly’s place as the latter really adds an extra defensive dimension . Not sure Pattison could do that just yet?

He should be smiling an awful lot more starting at Notts Country etc etc etc . Something isn’t right.I suspect the formation and tactics is maybe beyond his skill and mobility set?.

To me this season he seems to have lost a yard of pace, he’s never been quick but it’s like he’s having to drag his body around. He’s no spring chicken his legs might be going, happens to every player and at different ages there’s no exact science. Maybe it’s something going on in his life that we don’t know about instead, or he’s just out of form. Not sure but there’s definitely been a drop and his body language has left a lot to be desired.

 

Seems a bit harsh if so. 2 bookings over 4 games doesn't seem so bad as to warrant a game suspension... Just wasted a load of time reading through the rules of the trophy but didn't see anything about accruing bookings and receiving suspensions so dunno
